Yes, yes it does. How this game has won so many GotY awards truly shows the sad state of gaming journalism.

Last year in gaming Journalism

  • Gamergate
  • Quinnspiracy
  • And then DA:I a game that quite frankly did nothing well. Still got so many rewards. Only some developers started realizing eventually that Riding the Bull was not all that fun.

I cannot wait for this Skyrim bubble of Quantity over Quality to blow over. And we can have devs respect the players time again instead of padding the game so they can put +100 hours on the box.

Not bad, assuming

1. It did not cost a lot to make
2. The game has legs

There are two different points to his post, as I interpreted it. I'll allow him to clarify.

Notice how my two points were in seperate paragraphs? BSC is right. They were lying about the game not being p2w when in reality, it was.

@FelipeInside This excuse again?

I am not expecting a masterpiece in terms of polish. But this is still what they are charging people for. IT should at the very least be playable when they charge for it.

I'm going to wait and see how it goes over the next 6 months or so. Could end up being really great, who knows? But jumping in at this point is going to disappoint if you're expecting a even somewhat finished game.

Who expects a finished game when it clearly says early access?

Considering the fact that they are charging for it. Those people have a right to be unhappy.

Even more so the case when the devs lied about the P2W stuff. Dishonesty should be punished, and I am glad to see it being punished.

  • BioWare

I had to look up "Bear Asses" because I assumed was directly connected to those other 2 items. Damn I miss the Bioware of old.

Describes the quest design of DA:I quite well, doesn't it ;)

  • Level Scaling, I dont mind upwards level scaling all too much, but downward level scaling is just awful.
  • 9999 damage
  • RTwP
  • Awesome Button
  • BioWare
  • Bear Asses
  • Romance
  • Perk (I liked it in GURPS and I didnt mind it in Fallout, but far too often I see this concept be heavily misused)
  • Story Driven (good stories are rare, and I only really trust MCA and CD Projekt with this)
  • Dialogue Wheel
  • Voiced Protagonist
  • Fed-ex quest
  • Single player mmo
  • "Turn based games don't sell"
  • Classless system. These always result in either picking between 3 perk trees which ironically enough make you more restricted and less flexible than what a proper class system would have offered, or you end up being able to master everything. There are a few exceptions to this.

And some general, that still concern PC RPGs

  • Cover Based Shooting (Mass Effect)
  • Freeroaming/Open World
  • Cinematic
  • 100+ hours
  • Choices and Consequences (whenever it is advertised, it is almost always done really poorly)
  • Always Online
  • F2P
  • Streamlined
  • Respawning enemies

And while I am at it, here are some kind words and phrases in a PC RPG game

  • Full Party Creation
  • Multiclassing
  • Death Penatlies, like a pemanent loss of 1 constitution/vitality for each death.
  • Permadeath
  • Bard
  • Support Class
  • Aging Mechanics
  • Traps
  • Turn Based Combat

Edit: Concerning MMORPGs (As in negatives)

  • Temporary Content (or as it might go by any other name, such as living story)
  • Action Combat
  • x-10 Skill Limit
  • Story driven is especially bad here

How many of these do @FelipeInside disagree with :P

Looks pretty good, but then again.

Josh Sawyer. Wait and see. Bad design decisions can ruin an otherwise good game.

Complete crap

If you're under the age of ten and can't get a real multiplayer shooter this is your game. And you'll want to rid yourself of it as soon as possible.

Looks a hell lot more appealing than the whac-a-mole style crap we have been seeing for the past 10 years. Iirc, the people who have played the game also seemed to be positive.

Nintendo, or at least some unknown PR guy, offers a generic response on why NA isn't getting what's offered in the rest of the world.

Different territories make their own business decisions regarding individual products and timing. We think New Nintendo 3DS XL makes the most sense for our market. Nintendo makes different systems at different price points for a whole range of consumers, and New Nintendo 3DS XL simply expands those choices even further.

...

We have nothing to announce at this time.

"Nintendo offers products for a whole range of consumers, and that's why we're only offering one of our two new products in our most important region."

P L E A S E U N D E R S T A N D

Everything is bigger in America.

Including New 3DSes.

I always imagined Awakening as being like a 'reset' of the series- you know, new engine, new base mechanics, and then you build back up from there. Sort of like how Ruby and Sapphire were for Pokemon. I imagine a lot of older features, like fog of war, will be returning for this one.

The entire Fire Emblem series has their own set of stories, its just happened that Awakening takes place beyond Marth's timeline, while FE's 2, 4, and 5 took place in the same world but different continents, FE 6,7,8, 9, and 10 took place in different worlds and don't relate to Marth's story. I'm only turned off by the character designs, but it's a good twist to add some medieval European and Asian cultures collide.

Plus, Awakening's features weren't that new if you played the older titles on the SNES. The only new feature was the tag-team system, in which was heavily inspired by the Pegasus Sister's triple combo attack that has always been on the series since FE 1 on the NES (or is it FE 3?)

Not only that, but they were better executed too, including the generation mechanic.

It could even be compatitable with avatar mechanic. Seeing your guy be 40 years old, and still kick ass is badass in itself, or they could just have your avatar freeze in time, and then do the timeskip.
