@lamprey263: Why would you want the crappy Other: M game go along with the legendary Prime serious? Not to mention that old man Sakamoto tried to write the series off.
I didn't think Other M was crappy despite the social consensus that mindlessly automaton gamers regurgitated which is basically just the X-Play review of it. I don't need other peoples approval to know I liked it. I think people are just being petty about it, most people who have something to say probably didn't play it anyways. I'm not arguing that it's a perfect game, but not as bad as the mob of phony bullshit posers pretend to be too good for.
I really don't care about any of the criticisms I've come across. People complain about controls, I didn't have any issues there. People took issue with Adam ordering Samus not to use her various abilities until his say so, I really didn't take issue with that either, sure it's a silly premise but not something to get so worked up over. Formulaically, the game still plays out like any other Metroid game. I heard people bitching about arbitrary restraints to backtracking, something also I didn't take great issue with. I've heard other grumble about it not being canon, something thankfully I'm not too nerdy to have noticed. Basically, the game was just a critical pecking party for a few. Overall, I thought the game was a blast to play.
But, it's unfortunate the series really only gets a new game when it gets its creator's say-so. Hopefully, Nintendo can hand the franchise off to another party to work on and not let the franchise be so constrained. I liked Team Ninja's work, even without Itagaki at the helm. Most the story elements were Sakamoto's call anyways so I don't blame Team Ninja for that. I'd be for them or someone else taking another shot at the series. Heck, maybe Nintendo can put Platinum on it to see if they can put new life in the franchise.
But what would it matter that an anthology included it. Gamers who wish to ignore it to simply ignore it, while other gamers willing to give it a shot can do so if they wish. Besides, Metroid releases are too few and far between (and who knows if we'll ever see another proper one) to care about such petty grievances. And I say include it, because technically it probably wouldn't be too hard to put Prime Trilogy + Other M on the Wii U's 25GB optical disc medium.
