Just wondering what people's favorite jrpg's of all time were. List as many or as few as you like.

In no particular order (except 1)

1. Chrono Trigger

Phantasy Star IV

Final Fantasy V

Final Fantasy VI

Final Fantasy XII

Final Fantasy Tactics

Shining Force II

Shining in the Darkness

Earthbound

Etrian Odyssey (entire series)

SMT: Persona 5

SMT: Devil Survivor (series)

(I am trying to list only games I have completed)

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (DS) (also IX, and 1-4, so basically the whole series except VI, V is my favorite by dfar)

Dragon Quest Monsters: Rocket Slime! (maybe not a true jrpg, but deserves being here)

Final Fantasy Adventure

Thought I would do one on my second favorite system of all time, what are you picks? Mine are as follows.

1. Chrono Trigger - this is the greatest jrpg of all time

2. Final Fantasy VI - the second greatest jrpg of all time

3. Demon's Crest - the most criminally underplayed (until recently) SNES game, and one of my favorite metroidvania's

4. Super Mario World - this is my favorite Mario game without question

Okay, those were easy, didn't get a SNES till my teens so these next ones may be different than yours.

5. Donkey Kong Country 2 - for some reason I always preferred this entry to the others

6. Actraiser - still one of the more original games I have played blending 2d platforming and RTS??!

No real order from here on but I will still assign numbers.

7. Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - this is my favorite Zelda game outside Link's Awakening (GB) so

this is an in.

8. Super Metroid - the one that started it all....

9. Super Mario Kart - Ditto

10. Contra III: The Alien Wars - best run-n-gun of all time imho

Now I am a total fanboy for this somewhat obscure system to our younger members so a top ten may be hard to pick, but I think everyone can do a top 3 at least.....

Without further ado:

1. Shining Force 2 - this is still my favorite srpg of all time, and it still holds up today and is regularly cited in top lists all the time. This, much like the next game, really show what the Genesis could do.

2. Streets of Rage 2 - pretty much everyone I know puts this in top 3 beat-em-ups ever, I argue it is the best beat em up ever made and can make a pretty decent argument.

3. Phantasy Star IV - the greatest "traditional" rpg on the system, so good.

4. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - I liked all the main sonic entries but this one is my favorite, it just seems to be the most cohesive entry.

5. Disney's Aladdin - Not only my fave disney movie, this is one helluva game. The SNES and Gen each got different games and many prefer this one.

7. Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine - It's Puyo Puyo with a KILLER soundtrack, fave puzzle game after Tetris (GB).

8. Shining in the Darkness - A great, and my first, dungeon crawler. Definitely an "entry level" crawler but done with so much shine, great game.

9. Ghouls & Ghosts - Many argue the SNES one is better (which it probably is), but this one was great and jumping was so much more forgiving, killer soundtrack again.

10. Castlevania: Bloodlines - now to be fair, Castlvania III for the NES is still my favorite entry, but this Genesis game is great, and more replayabilty than most "original" castlevania's with two playable characters.

I'm interested to know what other people's favorite MD/Genesis games were.

ME: Andromeda.

It is the game that convinced me to never purchase a game until I have seen reviews or at least some type of opinion from informed individuals on the "finished" product.

Gaiares for the Sega Genesis/Megadrive. And it's not even close.

Owned the game for 20 years and never made it past the third level.

Final Fantasy I on the NES was my first introduction to rpg's at my friends house.

First rpg I owned and completed was Phantasy Star II for the Genesis.

Nothing like the classics.
