Capcom needs to seriously get on the bandwagon and produce some ORIGINAL games for the PSP. Let's face it, you look on their official site and they only have 12 titles available for purchase for the PSP. 2 are video UMDs, 5 are collections of older games (including Darkstalkers Chronicles), 4 are ports or updates of old games, and then there's Monster Hunter Freedom 2 which is a pre-order.
What I propose is a new Resident Evil game, something like a cross between Nemesis and Outbreak, where your objective is to survive the Racoon City incident and make your way out of town while rescuing survivors and avoiding Umbrella's "HazMat" squads. Alternately, you could also play as an Umbrella soldier and work your way INTO the city and wipe out all the infected inhabitants. Now this is where it gets really good...you play online in rooms with up to 16 people total. 8 Umbrella soldiers, 8 survivors. You coulddecide if you want to work as a team or against each other, as in the Umbrella squad can mow down zombies AND survivors if they want, or help get the survivors out. And at the same time, the survivors could overrun the Umbrella soldiers and take their weapons and help their escape, or help the soldiers eleminate the zombies. Some of the great features that could be included would be a barracade system that would allow survivor characters to lock doors, board up windows, pile up trash in alleyways, and flip cars (if there are enough people to help) to create blockages that would slow down zombie advances, or make things difficult for the soldiers to move around the town. Of course the soldiers could carry the best artillery but with a limited amount of amunition that they would have to replinish by making their way to Umbrella outposts outside the city. The battle system could work like Dead Rising, where you can pick up most anything and use it as a weapon, no matter what team you are on. All of thiswould be done with RE4 style gameplay and graphics with a city about the size of a GTA game, but with access to the sewers, some buildings, and even rooftops. Throw in some destructable environments (imagine a gas station blowing up on one screen and seeing only the mushroom cloud off in the distance from another player's screen) because we all love to watch $#!t go BOOM! And keep the graphics fairly simple (again like the GTA PSP titles) but with lots of customization options for survivor characters. And what the heck, when a survivor dies, they become a zombie and keep their customized features, and teammates can now smack their buddy in the head with a 2x4. And of course, there would have to be voice chat. Outbreak disappointed me greatly with the lack of voice chat. AND FOR GOD'S SAKE, NO STUPID PUZZLES! KEYS OPEN DOORS! NOT RED AND BLUE GEMS!
Wake up Capcom...I've just drawn up the entire gameplan for you...all you have to do now is make it work! And it CAN work if you just follow the GTA example and scale down the graphics just enough to be acceptable on the PSP. As long as the gameplay is up to par, no one will complain. And quite frankly, I'm enjoying the hell out of Dead Rising...and it's NOT the best looking game out there.
