Not really, these days you have magic health regen, conveniently placed chest-high objects everywhere, continuous, permanent on-screen indicators telling you what to do and in some cases even infinite ammo.
Treating the flashlight as another weapon may have been a "deliberate and no doubt carefully considered design decision" by ID, but it doesn't make it a good one. In fact it's just terrible.
And ID stood by their decision, unlike Bioware. They're introducing the gun-mounted light almost 10 years after release, FFS, not 1 month after it.
Don't worry about that, the Vatican have their hands full at the moment trying to dismiss corruption charges to care about the worse game in the Hitman series.
Unsurprisingly, it turns out my predictions were right. Although it didn't take nothing more than having played all the games in the series, reading interviews and common sense, really.
