I don't buy used only because I buy digital. But I very rarely buy a game at launch or at full price. I wait for sales on Steam, or a GOTY edition, although I don't like DLC and only get it if it's part of the deal (and will probably never play it). There are exceptions to this rule, when I want to show my support - Skyrim was one, as was GTA IV, because they came from publishers I trusted and were backed with my love for the franchises. I'll also pay full price for indies & games that come at a reasonable price. Max Payne was also supposed to be an exception, the original being an all-time favourite, but suddenly I'm just not all that excited. I mean I am, but I don't support what's happening here. Staggered release, "season's pass"...what? No. That Walking Dead game can get away with season's passes because it's serialized, it makes sense for it and you're getting 6 whole games for $25. Max Payne season's pass DLC, on the other hand, is just money grabbing BS. I have plenty of games to keep me occupied for the next few months. I love Max Payne but I think I'll wait this one out and pick it up when the price drops purely out of spite.
It's about trying to create some benefits for consumers? Yeah no...it's about the bottom line. If that happens to benefit consumers, then that's just a happy coincidence. Benefits to the consumer are only as relevant as their ability to increase profits. Does this guy think we were born yesterday?
Is all this DLC going to add anything to the story of Max Payne? Because that's what I play this franchise for. If it's not going to add to the story, I'm not interested.
I started gaming on a laptop last year, mostly because my life requires easy mobility so having a desktop isn't terribly practical. I didn't like it first but it's grown on me. I still plan on setting up a brand new PC as soon as I'm settled though. You can't beat the big screen, and while my laptop's gpu is decent its not nearly as powerful as I would like. I can play most current games on max, but anything with a large or open world like Civ V or Skyrim needs to be turned down, there is just too much going on for my little machine to handle.
