Can I play games like pokemon emerald on the 3DS? like will it b/c?

gaming4us

Oh woops. I meant "No." I saw the "will it b/c?" and that answer is "Yes," but not as far back as the GBA. Only backwards compatible with DS.

Ouch. That sucks for Pokemon players who want to port their stuff

Yeah thats why I just recommend ppl who still want the interaction between DS and GBA pokemon to just wait for the 3DS' release, and then pick up a used DS lite if they don't have one. They'll be hella cheap by then

2 NESs (just the consoles) with Contra- $2

Playstation with 2 controllers, one game and cords - $5

Crash Bandicoot - $2

Super Scope with everything - $2

I love yard sales. :)

O.o do you live in a community of retiring gamers that wish to pass on their games to interested people for nothing?

Not IMO I haven't played my 360 in over 2 years (it died RIP red rings) but recently i've had the urge to send it back to microsoft for a replacement (3 year warranty on the red rings). And now I regret having wasted sooo much time before sending it in due to the huge 360 online community and awesome games. Sure still have my ps3 and wii but just like when my psp broke i feel like i'm missing a component of this generation. P.S. if your worried about a new xbox 720 or whatever, relax I doubt any of the big 3 is willing to cut this generation short

I sure am I never really got that far into OoT, just shy of the forset temple boss, so I can't wait to finish it on a portable. All the other announced games look great as well. The supposed spec have kindled my interest however, because a handheld thats superior (technically) to the ps2/cube can port over their games. As for the 3D, meh that was never a real interest of mine but if its as intriguing as reviewers make it out to be that could be pretty cool.

[QUOTE="oldkingallant"][QUOTE="hakanakumono"]

PSP is continually getting stronger with more and more Japanese titles being announced for it. The star of the Japanese market right now is the PSP and many Japanese developers are shifting projects to it.

I doubt Sony will replace it now.

hakanakumono

You really believe this? The DS is still utterly crushing the PSP in Japan. It's won a few weeks but the DS is still 140k units ahead this year.

140k units ahead of what number? PSP is still a juggernaut in Japan, and is outselling the Wii, PS3, and 360 alike. Moreover, a wealth of Japanese titles are being developed for the PSP now. Companies like Marvelous are claiming that it's the most profitable platform (in the east).

Its good to see Sony still has major support for the PSP internationally, but here in the states people are easily impressed by by flashyness (which the PSP has hence it's original success) and well placed gimmicks (first the DS' touch screen now the addition of 3D). The 3DS has both. It looks cool, is supposedly technically superior to the PSP and it has the much over hyped gimmicks. Not to say the 3D is unnecessary or the PSP has no chance against it, I just anticipate a dramatic shift to focus on the 3DS because now the technical limitations of the DS have been voided and the current hype behind the 3DS (not to mention the big name announced titles) shows huge interest in the console by developers before its release date/price are even announced.

No, there will be at least two consoles.

But I gotta be honest, it seems to me that MS is slowly leaving the console market at least for the core crowd.

Chutebox
I have to agree with the above. Competition drives the industry. Without the PS3 where would the 360 or the Wii be? And via versa. As companies currently are, the quality of any single game console (and games for that matter) would drop exponentially.

It would be pointless to announce it then. If sony is going to wait that long they shouldnt even bother. Nintendo will have such a lead the psp2 will be totally DOA

Fightingfan

Unless they try not to compete with Nintendo head on but they will try to compete in a different Market like the rumour of a PSP Phone.

They'll still get raped, the Iphone is the DS of that industry.

I saw that to, as a matter of fact it right here http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/11/exclusive-sony-ericsson-to-introduce-android-3-0-gaming-platfor/ However I do agree that they will be foolhardy to believe they will have better success against the iphone than the DS (at least initially) if they go this route.

[QUOTE="Fightingfan"]I don't see a psp2 coming why are they suddenly doing the marcus commercials? Also the Psp got murdered after 2 years on the market.

And thats another thing, around the conformation of the 3DS, Sony really started pushing the PSP to the point where I questioned Sony's plans for a successor.

First let me start with this, I am NOT a Nintendo fanboy. I own all 3 of this generations consoles and play my PS3 far more than my Wii (my 360 is currently red ringed). I do however realize that the up forth and coming 3DS has seen ALOT of hype and has HUGE names behind it such as Metal Gear Solid and Zelda:OoT some of which will be available at launch. Not to mention every preview of the device says as of now states the 3D actually works and is kind of cool; so Nintendo can actually attempt to improve the 3D effect and widen the sweet-spot by launch so that "relatively minor issue" as some put it should be gone. And there is the 3D slider if that fails. On top of that there is no news of a successor to the PSP (or am I just oblivious :o)v Anyways answer this question, with the 3DS on the horizon, and the DS' edge against the PSP (in terms of sales/appeal) does Sony have a chance at staying in the handheld market with no PSP 2??
