i used to like it. but i sleep in the same room as my pc and i like to leave my pc on. that means any LEDs i cannot turn off (or those that are too tricky to turn off) are just plain annoying.

i wouldn't mind otherwise, as long as it's not overkill. does RAM really need LEDs? do SSDs really need LED covers?

we're basically on the verge of LEDs having LEDs.

Divinity OS is my favorite game in the genre. The main story could be better but the side quests are fantastic. Every single one makes you want to explore and delve deeper.

@dmb34: How many people are still using mechanical hard drives? Um, everybody? Yeah, everybody. Unless you have $150+ to spend on a 1TB SSD, mechanical hard drives are your only option. I use a 250GB Samsung 850EVO, along with a 2TB Seagate 7200RPM hard drive. Sure, my SSD speed is way faster, but the situation isn't that bad for hard drives.

Large cases certainly have a future. That's like saying mobile gaming is the future. I feel like you're making a pointless argument here. Why do big cases need to go? There is literally not one reason. If you prefer a smaller case, fine, nothing wrong with that. Why do larger cases need to go? You make absolutely no sense.

And tablets/smartphones suck, especially for gaming. (Unless you're fine with that 20FPS in Flappy Bird)

Not to mention that putting important data on an SSD is currently not recommended since it's very hard to recover compared to a normal HDD.

HDD are still here to stay for a while longer.

i quote @zaku101 "full size spinning hard drives".

You can easily build a small mATX system with 3 2.5" slots that has a 500GB SSD and 2 2TB HDDs. ton of capacity and speed in a tiny box.

The biggest E3 rumor is that both xbox and playstation will have mid-console-generation upgrades announced. If this turns out to be true, it is certainly going to push console gamers towards pc.

Peripheral and hardware makers are also making a push to entice console gamers to go pc by offering steam machines/living room pcs/couch keyboard/mouse devices.

at the end, it all depends on the games, and pc never slows down in that department.

i'm maxing out tomb raider and DOOM at 1440p (75+ FPS) on a core i5-3450 so your CPU is definitely fine.

GPU upgrade is the way to go. i'd say get a 1080 or 1070

I can't in good conscience ever support the death penalty. The biggest and most important reason for me is making a mistake and putting someone who was wrongly accused to death. I also think that it's an easy way out plus I feel that everyone should at least have a chance to reform.

I don't support the death penatly, either. Not because of them making a mistake and executing an innocent person (thought that is atrocious), but more philosophically. Life should matter. All life. It sets a very valuable lesson to society - that even though a murderer didn't respect life, we'll still value life - even theirs. Otherwise, you cheapen the value of human life and may actually lead to people killing more. And jail is not a picnic, especially US jails that are among the worst of any industrialized nation.

i feel like you're the only person with a proper argument, even though i don't agree with you.

the problem with "executing innocent person" argument is that that is what already happens all the time. cops can kill innocent people by mistake, doctors can kill innocent people by mistake, drivers can kill innocent people by mistake, but we don't stop doing any of those things.

As long as the system works, as long as there's a good enough reason to, and as long as people believe in the system and its legitimacy, the death penalty should be present. Otherwise, it's a form of injustice.

Words do not hurt, it's people's inability to deal with it that hurts people.

It's like saying throwing penguins off a plane doesn't hurt them, it's their inability to fly that hurts the penguins.

It's scientifically known that psychological effects have profound physiological effects, sometimes akin to physical pain.

How does Grief cause physical pain?

Also, refer to PTSD.

I'm hoping a psych major comes to this thread and enlightens us all.

@FelipeInside: me too. But a lit wall behind the monitor helps enormously.

Doesn't it make it worse than a lamp? having a white screen constantly in front of you? (the lamp I have is to the back side of the desk)

The LEDs are mounted to the back of the monitor so it has the same effect.
