I simply don't see the point of BC nowadays. I kept my PS3, which can play all my PS1 games and many of my favorite PS2 games are being remade for PS4 or have been remade for PS3 and are dirt cheap. (For example, DMC Special edition collection, Kingdom Hearts collection, FFX-X2 HD remaster, then there's the rumor of FFXII being remastered, etc).
On top of that, I barely have time to play new releases. Are people really that hard on for a trip down memory lane? Most games aren't going to look or play that well and if anything, will smash the nostalgia glasses. I know I can't play Morrowind w/o the high texture and gameplay overhauls, even though I love the game to death.
It's a nice gesture coming for MS and Sony and I'm not one to turn down free things to try out. I just feel like their time could be better spent on new things to make the current gen better. Like 1080p/60fps for EVERY game. It's still a struggle for both of them.
@DrunkenPunk800: Hence why I said PC as well. Also higher resolution isn't enhanced graphics. The image you see is sharper and you may see more on screen, but the graphics are the same. 512mb textures don't magically become 1k just because a native 720p game can now display at 900p, etc.
Anyways, this "BC" is better than nothing I suppose, but it's not really BC in a traditional sense that I can play any older game at any time, rather than waiting for an approved list every month or 2 and being forced to download data that could be used towards newer games.
@dnsfw_jamus: 7tizz is one of the biggest X1 fanboys you'll find on this website. No point in calling him out imo. 7tizz knows who he is and everyone knows PS4 is the superior console.
@davillain-: ^This is the right answer. I keep my PS3 for my older Tales of games and I still have classic PS1 games just in case.
All this talk of BC when maybe 10% of X1 users will actually use it and even less of a chance peoples' favorites will make the cut. Just keep your consoles people.
