It's evident they have not put much work into the envrironment yet, and that's understandable since they just showed it for the first time. However, the car models themselves are very very nice, Polyphony Digital always has done well by their cars. Looking forward to watching it improve.

[QUOTE="akuma303x"]Im a die hard lemm. So to my surprise while searching the video's section on live, I went into The dev video area, Um either IGN or Dev community vids. Anyway While in there I found a video on UNCHARTED. I was shocked to see a PS3 exclusive have time on the live network. Im not sure if it's still there, Im at work and cant check. If someone is at home I hope you can go look and snap a pic before it is removed. It is funny how MS is caught advertising for SONY. Maybe they should check what their partners are putting on their network.jazreal
or maybe this game is .........ready for it.......TIME EXCLUSIVE??????? hello???? cant wait to see the boards when this comes to light....ooops :P

Fairly sure Naughty Dog is an in house developer for Sony. It'd be like Rare or Bungie making a game for the PS3.

Saying they refused is overstating it a bit I think. What happened most likely is that since the PC and 360 development environments are so similar, it's simple to take the assets they are using on the pc's they are making the game on over to the 360 and create a trailer.

The PS3 isn't as easy to dev for and not as simple to run PC code on as the 360 is which is why we've seen nothing but 360 trailers so far. I would think if Rockstar were to send a trailer over to Sony this soon before release for the PS3 conference, they'd prefer it weren't running on 360 hardware... And since it would take valuable devlopment time and energy to create a trailer specifically running on the PS3 with PS3 assets, they just didn't bother since Sony had a lot of other things to show.

I hope you enjoy your PS3. You can try out Ninja Gaiden Sigma too, and Super Stardust HD is a good game too I think you should try it-L-U-I-S-

Have you played both NG Black and NG Sigma? Anybody? I'd like to know from someone who has experience with both just how different they are.

Despite the common conception that I am raving Lemming, I did go out and buy a PS3. It was a great deal, and... well it's too long for a forum post, the details are all in my blog (the link above my sig.)

In any case, I have Motorstorm, Resistance, and GTHD and Sigma demos so far. So... I'm here thinking, now what? Lair in August and Heavenly Sword in September and Haze sometime this year. Am I missing anything? What are current PS3 owners playing that I don't know about? (I've already played the multiplat big ones for the 360) Not trying to start a flame war, just trying to get the most out of my PS3.

Unforgiven2870

how are you enjoying it?

It's... as expected...? I go into detail in my blog, but suffice it to say, I'm not in love with it just yet.

Jake, allow me to respond to your blog entry here.

A lot of valid points, no denying it.

I will have to both agree and disagree with you about Resistance. When I first picked it up, in fact for the first two or three levels or whatever, I thought it was quite average, didn't see anything special about it. Believe me, it picks up after a while. By about halfway through the wow factor definitely kicks in. It's sort of a sleeper game, really. After barely enjoying it when I started, I ended up playing through it three times, and will probably play through it at least once more on a harder difficulty. I think it blends run'n'gun with realism better than any other game. It's not as outlandish as Unreal, it's not as slow and tactical as BF2, but you definitely need to take cover and move slowly. I don't think there's another game that straddles this fence so well. Do me a favor and give Resistance a real shot. You will understand that all the PS3 fans still playing it are not doing so merely because there is nothing else. There really is something to R:FOM, but it takes a while to get below the surface.

Next, your 1080i gripes are understandable, but to me it's a moot point. I wouldn't play games in anything but progressive now, after seeing 720p and 1080p in action. I know it can be a tall order, but most of us had to buy entirely new TVs to play our consoles properly. It's too bad, but it's an issue for any Xboxer that only had an SDTV. If your gear is old, you might have to shell out some cash... but then, being a gamer, you knew this.

The lack of an HDMI cable, and the length of the USB charging cable are inexcusable. I have nothing to refute those blows. They simply screwed up. Luckily I have 5 controllers (a spare is always necessary, just in case), so I can switch to a charged controller and leave the other one connected. I also have a much longer USB cable that came with my camera, so I use that if its really necessary. They are small nuisances, but I can see your point.

What you should do is do a pro/con list, and you will find that there are identical issues on both sides of the fence. No HDMI cable? Ouch. Batteries in the Xbox controller? Ouch. Want HD movies? Done. Want HD movies? Buy a peripheral for $150. Loading times? Ouch. 9.4 GB maximum disc capacity? Ouch.

For every flaw the PS3 has, the 360 has one to match it. When the PS3 games catch up and the price becomes more reasonable, these issues become less important. Buyer's remorse is natural when you drop $500 on anything, but I think you will warm to your Grill and enjoy it.

XL83

I'm sure Resistance will grow on me eventually. The first few levels are pretty bland, but if they get better as you say they do, I'll be looking forward to that.

The 1080i thing really does bother me. My 1080i set is my favorite one, and it's a really great 52" set I don't plan on replacing anytime soon. The issue here is that my 360 will play at any resolution I want. I can game at anywhere from 480i to 1080p and it will play games at the setting I want. With all of the bleeding-edge hardware in the PS3, an internal scaler should have been a no-brainer. What further rubs me raw is that I see games that aren't even out yet that state "720p" The trailer for Little Big Planet says such, and that makes me wonder if I'll be able to play any PS3 games on my big screen tv outside of Ninja Gaiden: Sigma.

Like I said. 2 years from now when PS3 is $300, that's a deal! When you can walk into any store, buy a PS3 for $300, and choose from GT5, Shadow of the Collosus 2, God of War 3, MGS4, HS, Lair, Ratchet, Uncharted, Killzone2, then that's a deal!

Look, I've had a PS1, and have a PS2. I'm a huge hardcore gamer. But if the PS3 honestly doesn't do it for me, then there's a BIG problem. Sounds like it doesn't do it for you either.

I garentee it will collect as much dust as my N64. Peace.:)

Here's the rub: Indeed it will be a good deal in two years when the PS3 is 299 or less and you can choose from all of those great games. However, HS, Lair, Ratchet, Uncharted, KZ2 etc etc will all be old games that no one really talks about because there are already newer, better games out at that time. Not to mention by 2009 there will already be talk of the next gen starting in 2010 or 2011. Sorry, I'm one who likes to be on the cutting edge of gaming, which is why a PC, 360, PS3 and Wii are all in my house right now.

I don't have to like or praise every aspect of a system in order to deem it worthy of a purchase. The 360 has issues, the PS3 has issues, and the Wii has issues. If a person can't see the flaws in any one of the three consoles and thinks his is perfect, then they just might be... a fanboy. ;)

So wait, what exactly was this deal at CC and was this at your particular CC or is CC running a special across all their stores?Blue-Sphere

I found out about it at their website, and ordered it online and then had the choice of picking it up at any of my local CC's which I did. I don't know if it's only thru the onine site, or whether you can get the same deal just going to the store.

The deal was $499, a 60GB PS3, 5 free Blu-Ray movies by mail in, and an extra Sixaxis.
