[QUOTE="Swift_Boss_A"]

Sucks that Nintendo is bringing a new gen soon, I hope Sony or MS doesn't respond to it because there is still a lot that can be achieved on current gen systems. Hopefully the new Nintendo system will not be more powerful than the current consoles. Nintendo have never been about raw hardware specs, and I am also sure it will not be as innovative as the Wii, what I mean is it wont have an effect the Wii had because I guess people are used to it. No new control scheme Nintendo adds will top the departure the Wii had from the Gamecube. I think Nintendo is going to play it safe and try to get 3rd party devs on board for core titles the PS3 and 360 have been enjoying all this time, Im betting it will be as powerful as said systems with some perk or something to differentiate it.

NES was the most powerful of its gen and so was the SNES so I thought. The Gamecube was a step between PS2 and Xbox. Nintendo doesn't mind power, they just don't want to pay alot for it.

Master System was a lot stronger than the NES.

I hope it is noticeably (not expecting something extreme) stronger than PS3 and 360 are, so it doesnt look too distant from the 720 and PS4 in 3 years or so. But either way, it all comes down to the games.

NaveedLife

It basically need to be powerful enough to handle 720 and PS4 ports without any real hassle. Sort of like how the PS2/Xbox and Gamecube did.

[QUOTE="Heil68"]And developers will ignore the 100 million PS3/360 consoles, right?Hidden_Hand
They ignored the 80+ Mil that the Wii had , so i dont see why the same cant be said for current HD consoles once Wii2 is released

For one, there is no history in third party games actually selling on a Nintendo system unless you back to the SNES. Secondly, PS3 and 360 owners ar buying a ton of third party games.

There is absolutety no reason for third party devs to ignore their current costumers that actually buys their games for a userbase that historically won't.

and just for the record, notice how the wii is always in front of the PS2 in the yearly comparisons.

SuperFlakeman

Currently Wii is 25% ahead of PS2 LTD-wise so yeah.

But it will probably decline way faster than PS2 as the lack of 1st party support is going to hurt (switching over to Cafe)

It's pretty much going to die next year. Nintendo has never supported two consoles at once (Maybe NES and SNES but that was long ago)

I also don't see what was so wrong with the Gamecube. It had a much better library in quality and quantity than the Wii.

It wasn't a system sales machine but I could care less about that.

It has to have a couple of things.

1: Something that makes it stick out. The casual crowd will not buy a Wii HD, They have always gone to the next big thing and don't care about brands.

2: Power big enough for third party devs to easily port over their games, Nintendo knows that they need the third party devs to have a long successful gen which the Wii didn't get.

3: Mario and Zelda (what else?:P)

_

Nintendo knows by this point that going casual and excluding core third party devs are not a long-term viable strategy. They want both worlds and they can get them, all they need is better hardware and good marketing.

Notice how console oriented gamingsites almost drool over anything Activision brings out but PC gamer simply

ditches it into the ground simply because of having higher standards. Pretty much the only mainstream website/magazine that doesn't suck Activision's #&%ยค.

Nice read.

Gauloisess

Pretty ironic then that most PC gamers will do just that when it becomes the highest selling item on steam like all other CoD map packs have been.

Well, the way I interpreted your stance on releasing Steam sales, it did. Feel free to respond to it, there's some good stuff in there.

hypoty

Simple.

I am gamer that want to how good or bad a game sold. I'm interested to see if game I liked sold good enough to warrant a sequel.

What's so wrong with being interested in the business side of gaming?

Then you're completely clueless. Only way the stock holder would find out would be from there yearly sales number releases. Indie devs may not have stock holders, but alot have investers which is pretty much the same thing.

i5750at4Ghz

That's stuff that publishers have to release every quarted or they would be in a in a lof of legal trouble.
