@Pockets69 Actually every game I have says it is region locked (to either PAL or NTSC and specify the region on the box) but they all work from Red Dead Redemption and FIFA 2012 to Lips and Once Upon a Monster. They won't work using an analogue video connection but on a digital connection they do so it seems that there is no lock in the game itself but they only provide the region specific analogue video codec on each disk but the digital is universal. Nintendo, however are deliberately checking the region of the console and blocking the game if it's the wrong region.
Region locking only becomes an issue if you emigrate. I moved from Europe to North America and had to but a new Wii because I couldn't buy games here for my European one so now I have two and I use whichever one I need to depending on the game. It's annoying. Interestingly all my Xbox 360 discs work on a North American console, no matter where they were bought as long as I use a HDMI connection.....
If Sony and MS can remove it, then why not Nintendo?
@meatz666 I think MS's point is that the Kinect is integral to the new system so not strictly a peripheral any more than a screen is peripheral. Sony are telling you that you don't need the camera but ooooohhh.... without it you can't do this.....which is worse? A lie that draws a smile or a truth that draws a tear?
So Sony don't bundle the camera with the console so as to get the price below the XboxOne then bundle an app with it that requires it - one that they deliberately showcase at E3 - in order to try and get you to buy it. How dumb do Sony think people are?
@iMpLuX It was still there a month ago, in fact it was on a daily deal not long before that when I bought it. They have indeed since removed it but that doesn't help. Why should I have to pay for it again on GOG?
If you think that's broken on Steam you should try Chronicles of Riddick : Assault on Dark Athena. Do not buy it, it's broken, won't even start due to busted DRM but they will still let you buy it. Steam is a great service but it's not perfect.
Can anybody (particularly the Sony fanboys saying the PS4 is vastly superior) give any evidence at all that the PS4 actually is superior technically? I've been looking around and from what I can see they are almost identical so what are you all talking about?
