I wouldn't count on that. The article says that 3.5 million BlueRay players have been sold to date and 3 million of those were PS3's. Those numbers have to be a bit old but the point is that the firm majoirty of BlueRay players are PS3's.

Dreams-Visions

My over-arching point is who cares? Why act like this is God's gift to movies, when it's far from a new feature for HD movies? It's just new to Blu-Ray. If you want to see how it works, go see Transformers on HD DVD. You can download a few things. Big whoop.

Seriously...far from a "ZOMGBBQIT'SOVAH" feature. Blu-Ray is simply catching up with features the competition has had available for over a year.

Ok I'm Joe Consumer and I walk into a Best Buy and ask the clerk what BlueRay player to buy. He says "Well you could get this nice Sony player for $299. It works well and makes pretty pictures. Your other option is to get a PS3. It's pretty neat because a number of the BlueRay dics coming out allow you to download and view bonus content! Your kids can play PS3 games on it also. It's 100 dollars more."

Honestly which one would you buy? I think most people would upgrade.

I think most would have a $200 budget for such extravagancies. Especially in today's American economy.

Did you buy an HD-DVD player? Because you look like your mad at Blu-Ray for winning at the moment.

I also agree that it was Nintendos year with the wii being sold out till this day. But I gotta say PS3 with its high price tag and limited first party games did well in my opinion.

You are 100% right on that but guess what everyone that likes Halo already bought the 360 so it wont sell that many consoles like you think.

SoUtHhOlLiZ

Well its not a fact yet but we will seein September when its released.

Most of this is just what the developer's PR hype so the actuall game may not be as good as advertised.

It's a FPS/RPG hybrid - hardcore gamers beg for games like these hoping it'll mix everything they love about RPG's in with the fast action of a FPS.

allows for a fast array of strategy options through different skills. Also you can use the environmental settings to plan, and kill things. Water + electricity = death

unique enemy/world - we're not fighting aliens though fighting aliens is pretty cool (no word on Nazi's though)

Cool graphics

This is enough to get people excited about it.

jrhawk42

So its for a hard hardcore gamer not just a hardcore gamer right. Yea... not for me. Its too enclosed for me like PREY I actually got sick playing that game like sea sick.

[QUOTE="Ragnarok1051"][QUOTE="AfterShafter"][QUOTE="Trading_Zoner"]

Well has MS made money in their overall game division yet?

AfterShafter

As a gamer, do you care? I don't.

That was horrible damage control, of course it matters. If they don't turn a profit then why would they continue in the console wars?

For the same reason they started - a huge loss - in the first place. Because they saw Sony, a company that used their own OS software, starting to dominate a market (set top boxes) which would likely eventually impact on MS's primary market (OS's and PC utility software) hugely. Their stake in that is no smaller now than it was seven years ago.

And, damage control? Please. If next gen they don't have what I want because their financials are sucking this gen, I will buy another console - I've hopped more than once before. As a gamer, this gen, I simply do not care if they are making money - I just care if they have games. They do. Are you so brand loyal that, next gen, if your console company of choice doesn't have the games you want, you'll still buy their product ahead of another console that does have said games?

You're obviously used to dealing with fanboys. Based on your statement, you are one yourself. Think different. Do you really care if a console makes money this gen, as a gamer? Or do you just care if they have games? Again, that's all I care about, and MS's pocketbook can burn in hell for all I care.

Oh my bad took long to respond.

You stated that Microsoft was afraid Sony will spread their own OS software on the PC side whichI believe was not going to happen and if it did we should have choices of OS's that are compatible withother software's. On the console side Microsoft rushed their console not a bad one because it does have games but the system is defective.

As a gamer, do you care? I don't.

I do because that gives them more reason to keep milking gamers.

Milking the gamer? From my perspective, they're the ones who seem to feel they have to dump the most cash to impress/appeal to the gamer. If MS is milking gamers, Nintendo is putting them into a press and squeezing them for every drop of fluid they've got in them. To boot, judging by them taking a loss on the console initially and how much they're blowing on the extended warrantee, they're still willing to hemorrhage cash in order to woo gamers into their camp to an extent that neither other company is willing to. Milking indeed...

Yes milking indeed! They knew Sony was going to dominate in the console war. But not really because look how good Nintendo is doing now so we have room for other consoles as far as penetrating the pc side we need another choice of OS not a monopoly that is Microsoft they are just in it to disrupt and thats low (console war).
