@snxx You can see though companies like Bethesda are more interested in pushing the technical and game scale envelope under the guise of a "great- game." Nintendo on the other hand brings in the reigns on the technical side of things going only so far as to resemble the current times but focus on actually making unique experiences through their games.

The other console makers will use tablets to but it's not really a big push. To me its more of a bargaining arm to say "we can do that to if we want." Put most players aren't inclined to spend a couple hundred extra to do this.

@komuchen I agree. Now the X1 is basically a PS4 with thousands of servers behind it that really only AAA developers will take advantage of, maybe the one or two daring upstarts. I liked another posters word "identikit" because that's what it feels like we're getting this gen with the 2 big players.

Here's how I see things shaking out. Most gamers will have two gaming platforms no question. Speaking for next-gen from most common combo to least here's what I see happening:

1) PS4/Wii U

2) PS4/Xbox One

3) PC/PS4

4) PC/Wii U

5) Xbox One/Wii U

I think Wii U stands a chance to grow its install base because it serves best as supplementary platform offering different experiences. The competition will mimic the Wii U with their tablet platforms but the advantage Nintendo has it that the Gamepad comes with it. Not every gamer will own a tablet; and assisted gaming through a smartphone is a waste of battery life.

You paid $50 to play its games (or lack thereof) ahead of everyone else. Stop complaining. Also as others had said the games lineup should have been a indicator how things would pan out after launch i.e hardly any games that appeals to many gamers. Not everyone was waiting for Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends. They want better newer IPs which it sounds like what Nintendo wants to sell in 2014 and on ward.

Getting Wii U next year when the dust settles and they start shipping units with all the updated already configured so as not to endure the download update process.

Predicition: The September-October update will be for unifying handheld and console accounts.

I feel ike this is nintendo's move to offset the now $50 price drop on the Wii U. I mean the system is already selling a at loss and I can't imagine the 2DS costing much to produce. Overall its a strategy that's mutually beneficial. The 2DS serves much younger children, people who can see 3D and cost wary console consumers. Nintendo gets more presence in game stores (with 2DS) and potentially getting more people interested in buying Wii U.

@NTM23 @bunchanumbers yeah. Nintendo has said many many times they don't see Sony or MS as really their competition. They're selling unique gameplay experience which for these last two Wii's is at the expense of graphic but really the graphics on Wii U are great. If the game does its job of being immersive then its succeeded as a game.
