Nine Inch Nails my boy... go... listen.Samwel_X
"Pretty Hate Machine" is my favorite, but "The Downward Spiral" is also fantastic.
If you're into folk, try 16 Horsepower, Iron and Wine, or Mountain Goats.
If you like post-hardcore/sludge rock/noise rock/American underground try Sonic Youth, Drive Like Jehu, Fugazi, Pixies, or Sunny Day Real Estate.
If you want hip-hop, I'd recommend Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, or Aesop Rock.
For electronic stuff, check out the new Burial album (in before "dubstep is not electro, i love stupid symantecs arguments"), or "Dig Your Own Hole" by the Chemical Brothers (their new stuff isn't as good). LCD Soundsystem's "Sound Of Silver" is also an unbelievable album, in particular "All My Friends" and "Someone Great".
Poppier stuff I recommend would be the new Tegan and Sara, Against Me!, or Ted Leo and the Pharmacists.
If you're into pretentious progressive stuff, try Godspeed You! Black Emperor, or Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra and Tra-La-La Band.
I think that covers all the bases.
