I understand your point, yes they may have been over ambitious and unravelled more story than they could later explain but I still think they did a good job with the ending. I didn't find it sub-par, in fact I quite enjoyed the final episode and thought they did well in taking a different tact. Where Max was previously dictating how people's lives will eventually pan out, intentionally or not, but now she was forced to be a helpless passenger and observe the chaos she had created.
They explored many avenues through the course of the series so I can understand why it was difficult for them to close them all off before completion. I do think they did an excellent job with the finale, you get to explore Max's subconscious and re-live the decisions you've made along the way. The journey was what counted, not the conclusion, and I had one hell of a ride!
What do you mean? This game isn't reliant on Bethesda's successes with the Fallout series in any way. You're clearly just arguing for the sake of arguing...
