Does anyone find it odd that women get pieces of armor like "Old Raggedy Robes" and "Beggar's Armor," where as men get "Ancient Kings Brest Plate" and "Venerable Sages Robes?" Now, there isn't a one to one equivalence between my examples, but one must admit there's a trend here...
Don't get fallout - particularly for the ps3 as the DLC wont be out for some time - until the GOTY edition is out. Paying for the game and the DLC is a waste of money. If you want something right now, I'd go with COD4...
New Vegas is being developed by Obsidian, so it wont interfere with TESV. I'm actually pretty excited because of this - don't get me wrong, I loved Fallout 3, but the spotty dialogue and voice acting really killed its mood at times and I have a feeling that Obsidian will really deliver in those departments.
Depends on what aspect of the game your talking about: graphics, art/sound design, score, story... there are games that excel in all of these areas, but very few that do so in all of them. The only game I've played in recent years that I'd really consider an artistic masterpiece was Bioshock, which is a brilliant example of interactive fiction, that manages to engage a philosophical topic without feeling trite. On the other hand Gears of War - in many was a pretty vapid game - had some gorgeous environments, that might warrent designation of "art". Not that I didn't like Gears.
Most game stories suck, American or not.

Sadly, I'd have to agree with this...
Edit: Though I do have to give the writers some credit, as weaving a good story into an action game, or to a lesser extent an even rpg, would be no mean feat. There are so many problems raised by the miedium that film writers and novelist don't have to deal with.
From an artistic stand point, hands down bioshock. It has great writing, voice acting, and atmosphere, as well as an excellent sense of dramatic unity. Also, the plot actually engages the philosophical concepts it is founded upon, rather then using them as window dressing, like every other video game in existence.
However, if your looking for somthing epic - space opera, or a large cast of likeable/Heroic characters - then Mass Effect or Lost Odyssey are probably for you.
They're all good games you really cant go wrong...
