Three months. It took just three months this time for someone to start talking about the next Call of Duty. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, given how well the current entry is doing. Won't be long now until the series finally dies off, as more and more players are realizing just how ridiculous the monetization has gotten. Even whales have their breaking point, it seems.

$120 for a fan? lol

Unfortunately, as ridiculous as this sounds, people will still buy it.

At this point, the only way they could truly "push the envelope" is by not having DLC and micro-transactions, and just giving us a 100% complete game. But then, this is Activision, so that'll never happen.

No new MM games since 2010, yet they feel justified in celebrating the anniversary? Of what, exactly? The 7th straight year without a new game, or the continued milking of MM's legacy in the form of half-assed compilations and DLC for other games?

Capcom, either make a new MM game, or let the series die in peace. Better yet, promote some more fan projects in the same way as SFxMM (or was it MMxSF? It was so long ago, I forget.). We get new MM games, and you get to redeem yourselves with little effort on your part. Win/win.

So now you've lowered your standards even more, huh Gamespot?

Articles with clickbait titles are bad enough when there's an actual article attached to it. But this is nothing but an ad.

Not surprised that there's no auto-playing video here, nor huge banner ad cutting through the middle. It was actually refreshing not to see those, but I guess those are reserved for the actual articles.

@VooDooPC: Good question.

I was thinking of what would be best for the consumers. I never assumed they would actually do this. I mean, this is Activision we're talking about here.

@dev-raid1: Because single player in CoD typically has no microtransactions or DLC. No added cost there, so $30 seemed fair.

When you factor in the potential cost of the extras I mentioned, SP becomes the least expensive option.

Personally, I think it's about time they started selling each component seperately.

They could do it the way they use season passes. Pay the usual $60 if you want all three modes, or pay a smaller amount for just the ones you want, out of a total that slightly exceeds the price of the $60 combo pack. The multiplayer, to be fair, should be the least expensive, as it now has microtransactions and DLC to make up the difference.

To clarify:

$30 for single-player

$25 for zombies

$15-20 for multiplayer

$60 for the total package (saving $10-15)

We just had 3 years of futuristic warfare (1 for each developer), so now we'll have 3 years of WW2, then, when everyone's sick of it (again), it'll be back to modern warfare, and the cycle will continue until the eventual demise of the series.
