If you want to talk about violence in our culture via games then you should talk about the American culture AS A WHOLE Mr. Murphy. This wasn't just a matter of games if that truly ever was a factor to begin with. What about the glorification of guns that was going on in his life? The fact that the killer grew up with guns around him and was supposedly trained by his mother on shooting ranges? Better yet, what about the killer's mental instability? Unstable and in an environment that could potentially (and did) enable him to have a capacity for violence. "What, you can't be crazy no more?"
I'm much more willing to bet that his instability and prior experience with firearms had more of a hand in his actions than a game did.
@wizo59mt Actually that may become more of a problem down the road. If the only way to play a game is "new" on the platform and not many "new" copies exist after a certain point then I think you could guess what it will do for prices. The only other route at that rate then becomes digital, which is obviously their goal.
@DevilMightCry Eh I'm the odd man out there I'm afraid. Not crazy about tying games I end up not liking to accounts etc. that I can't be rid of, hence I am more selective on PC than other platforms without such limitations though price differences occasionally help.
@eva02langley @wexorian I was already somewhat annoyed with the PC scene and this growing online pass business on consoles (PARTICULARLY Sony). This would potentially be the nail in the coffin between me and Sony. =\
