If I'm going to pay $400 for a console in this day and age, it better have a 4k Blu Ray drive. Since it doesn't, I'll pass. I don't even have a 4kTV, but I like to future proof.
Neither console has impressed me with their lineup yet, but if Microsoft get their shit together, I may end up going with the Scorpio. Sony are being freaking retarded.
@pointingmonkey: "But then those games would have to go through a process of being internally checked, which would cost money."
It would cost less than developing a game internally. They could sell these fan games for $10 on their consoles, Steam, and Android, and make a TON of cash.
Problem is, Nintendo are control freaks. God forbid someone make a better game than them. Same goes for Sega, and these other companies.
That said, to avoid all the hassle, smart devs change things up, and make their own unique IP's, while borrowing inspiration from previous games. Freedom Planet started as a Sonic fan game. Retro City Rampage started as an NES port of GTA 3. But, they became their own things, so they can't be shut down.
@pointingmonkey: It doesn't matter what people THINK. If it's not officially licensed, then Nintendo are not at fault. Nintendo shouldn't censor everything just because the public is gullible.
@Red_hot_smasher: Sega shut down Streets of Rage Remake AFTER it was released. So, you can still get it, if you know where to look. What did this accomplish? NOTHING. If Sega were smart, they would've purchased it from the developer, Bomber Games, and released it themselves. I would've bought it, but obviously, Sega don't like money.
