There are ways of improving the graphics of a SNES game. "Ooh, let's use a fifteen-year-old emulator filter!" is not one of them.

There were a whole bunch of other things where one event caused people to snap: a northerner's election caused the civil war, a handful of police acquittals caused the LA riots, Mohamed Bouazizi's self-immolation caused the arab spring, and so on.
