Sony has made some terrible business moves across the board. I like my ps3 and have had some great times with it but it didn't need all they crammed in it. And I own a vita and its a cool handheld but it wasn't a good move financially. I don't want Sony out of gaming, as they bring many positives to the industry. But truth is they may need to scale back for a Gen. A lot of butthurt fanboys will follow but there are people's jobs at stake here when a company is in this bad of shape. A generation of console gaming can easily set them further back. The bleeding money must be stopped so they have a future. Hope they can do it.cainetao11

I agree with your premise. As much as I love Sony consoles and portables, I question some of their business practices. Removing full backward compatibility out of the PS3? Makes sense since at the time the PS2 was still selling like hot cakes and it accordingly cut back on production cost while allowing them to reduce the price of the console. I don't believe the latter tho...I believe that Sony saw that they could make more money buy forcing people who wanted to play PS2 games to go out and buy slim model PS2s...the numbers gave them the indication that could get away with this. Plus, the later released verisons of the PS3 (before taking out the PS2 functionality) ran off of emulating software and seriously, why leave the PSone compatibility there if they are telling the truth? It doesn't make since to leave your first generation compatibility in your third generation hardware but remove the second...think people, THE PS2 WAS STILL SELLING!

Also, the lack of internal storage and backward compatibility of the Vita. Imo, there's no excuse to not include an internal harddrive of at least 16 GB especially since the PSP Go had it. Instead, the force people to go out and buy their overpriced memory cards to even have the ability to play games on it. GREED!

I do like the PS + program and the option of getting "free" digital releases but I have this strange feeling that Sony is going to use it as a justification to go completely digital next gen...killing off the used games and retail markets not to mention having no REAL backward compatibility to its legacy consoles (or at least when it comes to retail copies). The PS + program does greatly increase their digital sales and downloads and they would have the number to justify their actions.

Not yet but good to know. I haven't seen a good mob film in awhile and can't wait. Good Fellas and Casino are still my favorites going in...

Every time I post a comment in response to an article on this site, my email inbox gets flooded with notifications of everyone who responds (not just to me) after me. I have adjusted these settings in FUSE but I keep getting the emails. HELP!

Whether there is tech in development or not, I think we can all agree that the existance of such a patient is troubling...

I have a 60 GB launch model PS3 and noticed that it's fans tend to run faster on games with higher output resolutions. Does anyone know if 1080p resolution games cause the launch models to overheat?

So my PS3 fat finally got the yellow light of death this past week, and I don't know what to do. I've tried the so called "heat trick" (heated it up with a hair dryer and let it cool off), I've taken it apart and cleaned all the dust and dirt out of it, and I've put new thermal paste in it. Still no luck. If these didn't work, then what the hell is wrong with my PS3 and what can I do about it? I've been planning on getting a new PS3 anyway so this isn't too crushing, but I want to try and fix this one because I can't afford to buy a new PS3 for another couple of months at least. Any help would be great.
