Having run communities outside of GameSpot, I respect the responsibility on leadership to keep a community thriving. Ultimately, you have two one-time options:
1. Post a topic in your union with a link to where active members can find the new home for the union.
2. Update your graphic/link in your sig for your union with the external site.
PM blasts to the membership of your union announcing a relocation is NOT appropriate. Everybody who uses the unions and forums on GameSpot has agreed to abide by the ToS. Despite some opinions of the rules unnecessarily complicating the process of communicating a union move, you each agreed to avoid the following behavior, as defined in the ToS:
Advertising - Messages that clearly advertise a service or product are not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to: unsolicited commercial or personal web site advertisements; "For-Sale/For-Trade/For-Auction/Wanted" notices; "Make Money Fast" scams, chain letters, and pyramid schemes; or any referrer-ID based sites (including both games and free-item marketing sites). Users are allowed to include their web site address in a signature, request comments on their personal site in a social setting, or provide, only once, an interesting or relevant link to another site.
Promoting an off-site location for your union falls under "personal web site advertisements."
I understand this may make it difficult to capture more than an alleged .1% of your community that would check sigs, but those are the rules you each agreed you would follow. If you break your agreement, you should also understand the consequences.
