Yahtzee has a tendency to over-reach / nitpick things in every game review. If you want more of a general review of GTA IV try Classic Game Room on youtube (InecomCompany) - the guy is a more well-rounded gamer and seems to give honest reviews. If you're gonna get a game to free-roam / play online with, there are FAR more worse games than GTA IV to fill that spot.
That said, he is a really big fan of the GTA series, as am I, whereas I preferred Vice City to San Andreas mainly because of the 80's atmosphere and music.
Don't forget that you could also get the 2 episodes - each having a unique character and story.

Wait, like, I can buy the episodes without having the game? I'll just do that if I can, please reply and tell me.
O.K, so I bought Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas with some Microsoft points I got from a site (pm me if you want to know where,) and I really love it. It seems fun and light-hearted and doesn't take itself so seriously. It makes me want GTA IV, but only for the free roaming and the online, because the city looks like such a great place to explore...LOOKS that is, as I have never played the game. Sadly, my parents probablywouldn't let me get the game. I'm allowed to have pretty much any game, but I think GTA would be the onlygame I couldn't get. Am I really missing out on something big by not getting this game? The free roaming and online look fun, but the story doesn't. As Yahtzee puts it, "I didn't feel like I was playing Grand Theft Auto IV, I felt like I was playing Grand Theft Auto: Boring Real Life Game." Which is what I was seeing from the gameplay.
If you have thoughts of suicide, but think your broken toe is worse, there's something wrong with you. Well, I guess there already is something wrong with you if you have thoughts of suicide though...
