Time for a fresh start as the old thread was getting too big for its own good. So yeah, you all know the drill.

Don't know what game to get? Ask away here!

All other threads of this nature will be closed.

Finally, here's a game you should ALL get:

The Longest Journey

"One of the best adventure game in years. Like a hybrid of cIassic Sierra and LucasArts games, it tells a great fairy tale filled with characters that you'll remember long after the game is over." - GameSpot

"This game does more than just recreate the nostalgic experience of old school adventure gaming, it actually reinvents how stories can be told in the medium, and gives us a glimpse of what we can expect in the years to come." - IGN

"The powerful story affects you as it unfolds and by the end you will be drained--your life will never be the same again. This game could do to adventure games, what Doom did for the FPS. A must buy for anyone and everyone." - GameSpy

"The pinnacle of cIassic, point-and-click adventure gaming." - PC Gamer

"An engrossing and highly entertaining adventure game with characters that you can care about, an involving storyline to keep you hooked, and settings and characters that are both beautiful and bizarre." - Eurogamer

"Even after you've finished the game, you'll be imagining and wondering the answers to characters' motivations, backgrounds, and futures." - Evil Avatar

"Best game EVAR." - UpInFlames

Okay I'm looking for a good Backwards-compatible original xbox game that has split-screen deathmatch. $10 or less, any suggestions?

Red Faction 2, Red Dead Revolver, Halo 2, Unreal CHampionship 2, or Mech Assault 2. PRetty much in that order is how I would recommend them for split screen deathmath alone, Red Dead Revolver features a highly underrated mulitplayer mode with tons of characters and pretty sweet special powers.

I must admit I didn't check whether or not it's backwards compatible before posting though. Apparently it isn't O_o

I was almost sure I had played it on my 360 at some point but I must have remembered wrong. Not even Future Perfect is BC.

Have you played the first Ghost Recons on the PC? They're old but great.

The Silent Scope series is only decent in the arcades IMO, I'd check out the Swat games or Ghost Recon or some Old Rainbow Six Games.

I don't know if a PC version was ever made, and if it was it would have to be completely overhauled from the horrible console translations for me to even recommend playing it. Stay far far away from Silent Scope, unless you are in the arcades, or unless you have a modded sniper light gun peripheral at your disposal.

Need a solid and entertaining game with decent length, enjoyable story and at least some immersion factor.

Mass Effect or Lost Odyssey?

Which one and why.

I don't care what your preferences are, but you simply MUST play this game.

Despite having been released nearly a decade ago, it still stands as one of the most brilliant games ever made. Unfortunately, it also happens to be one of the most sought after games which means you're going to have a hell of a time finding this gem. The good news however is that you can find it as a downloadable @ gametap.

For those looking for an old PC game that can run on anybody's PC today, I'd highly recommend Deus Ex (PC version) arguably one of the best games I've ever played. I'll hunt down the Longest Journey in the next few weeks.

I only can get a few games a year, but this holiday season is making me crazy. I can only get 2 games within the next three months, and I've narrowed it doen to Fallout 3, Fary Cry 2, and Resistance 2. Can anyone help me out, and if so, any recommendations to replace one with a non-shooter. (all of my PS3 games are shooters, really, I don't know why.)

For starters, you could check out The Warriors and see what that's all about. Its supposed to be a quality brawler from what I've read.

Im still not commited to buying Mass Effect ( pc version ). Some places rave about it while others say that its overly boring, mostly linear and that a lot of the content feels like "filler" material.

Im sure a demo would be enough to make or break the deal but sadly there isnt one.

Im just not sure what to expect. I cant gather an opinion from the contrasting reviews. What exactly can i expect? Are there any similar games that i might have played that would give me a better idea of what id be buying?

If you've played either of the KOToR's, which are almost exactly like Mass Effect, you should be extremely familiar with how Mass Effect will play...If you have the means to play it, I don't see why or how you could pass up playing the PC version if you like Western RPGs whatsoever, Mass Effect might have the best dialogue tree system I've ever seen.

If I were you, I would want to get a taste of all of the PS3's exclusives pretty much right after I made the switch...I'll just make a list of the PS3 games I dream of being to play on my 360 (though I've actually had the chance to play most of them already).

The List of PS3 Games That Make a Xbot Feel Inadequate:

1. MGS4

2. Warhawk

3. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

4. Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction

5. Resistance (Though the sequel is about to hit)

6. Heavenly Sword (Although,It's short enough to easily play through with a rental)

7. Motorstorm (Though You Might Just Want to Wait for the Sequel)

8. Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection

9. PixelJunk Monsters

10. Everyday Shooter

Honorable Mention: MLB 08: The Show, Hot Shot Golf: Out of Bounds, (Vader Exclusive) Soul Calibur IV, Unreal Tournament 3 (Mod Abled)

Right now I'd pick up MGS4, Ratchet and Uncharted, and I'd be looking forward to Little Big Planet, Motorstorm 2, Resistance 2 and Valkyria Chronicles. As for PSN games, definitely get PixelJunk Monsters, Super Stardust HD and PixelJunk Eden.

Let's not forget Disagaea 3: Absence of Justice, Echochrome, and Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, all of which are pretty solid titles.

Hello people, I'm 14, My birthday is in two months and my mom wants me to start telling her what I want so she can save for it or even buy it in advance. Me and my family aren't terribly poor or overly rich, we're higher middle-class. So we can probably afford the 400-800 dollars VERY MAX range, anywhere around 500-600 is ultimately preffered price. Basically I want to deck kmyself out on the next gen of gaming gear and games/consoles/tvs. I really have no idea where to start, this will probably be my biggest/most expensive birthday and I want to take advantage of it.

I've already decided to either get a xbox360 or ps3 (I already have a WII and a psp and DS, so please don't suggest those).

I've decided to get a xbox360 so far, though not sure what stuff to get, which version of it, (premium, elite, etc.?)

I'd like to get xbox elite, 3-8 games, a nice mix of strategy/shooters/rpg's...please don't list more then 1 or 2 m-rated games (MY mom is very uncomfortable about me playing m-rated games and she'll probabaly freak out if I ask for like 5 m-rated games..unfortunatly she watches Dr.Phil alot xD)

Please follow the guide lines I gave, and make a list with 3-8 games not to many m-rated, nice mix of rpg/shooter, anything is appreciated through, thank you I'd love any help you can give! :D

60GB premium should be enough for you. Games I'd recommend are Oblivion, Civilization Revolution, Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Lost Odyseey, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.

Just finished CSI:Hard Evidence and I'd like to find more games like it. Ones where you figure out puzzles rather than jumping around or shooting stuff. I'm not that coordinated.
Are there other mystery/investigation type games on Wii?

I dont know for sure, but maybe you should check out Zack and Wiki. One of the best puzzle games on the Wii and its only $15. Watch some videos and see if you are interested. IGN is pretty much in love with that game so it should be a really good puzzle game.

Should I get Monster Hunter for the PS2? I saw a friend of mine play the PSP version and I thought it was pretty sweet but then I remembered that I dont have a PSP....so even though the servers are offline now, is it worth getting anyways?

Thanks!

Please follow the guide lines I gave, and make a list with 3-8 games not to many m-rated, nice mix of rpg/shooter, anything is appreciated through, thank you I'd love any help you can give! :D

Well I have all three consoles, first I got the 360 then Wii then PS3. It really boils down to what kind of games you enjoy playing because if you are more of a shooter or online gaming fan, then get a 360 because Xbox Live is better than PSN, in my opinion, and a lot more stabile than PSN. But If you like action/adventure/rpg games then I would get a PS3 because considering the fact that you can play a lot more of the last gen games on PS3 than X360. I am actually playing more of my PS3 than anything else. Everything online is free (other than full games of course) so that is pretty sweet for the PS3.

Xbox 360 games: Oblivion, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4, GTA 4, Gears of War, Rainbow 6, Assassins Creed, Bioshock, Orange box, Tales of Vesperia

Playstation 3 games: Oblivion, Call of Duty 4, GTA 4, Metal Gear Solid 4, Rainbow 6, Socom, Warhawk, Assassin's Creed, Orange box, Disgaea, Resistance, Uncharted, Folklore, Ratchet and Clank.

Hope that helps!
