Incredible score, finally the successor to the best game this generation (as most people who acutally played it would tell you) is here and it gets the recognition it deserves.

But I still am not happy with the way the difficulty is being hugely exaggerated by the reviewers (same as Demon's Souls which was hard but not as hard as they would have you believe)

Any game can because easy if you play it enough. The fact that it has a steep learning curve makes it harder than other games. mrmusicman247
No thats not really the case, as soon as you pick up Demons/Dark Souls they will be harder than Ninja Gaiden Sigma but if you put 30 hours into Demons/Dark Souls and 30 hours on NGS then NGS will be harder.

I played Demon's Souls to death and loved it. my favourite game of this generation.

I know Dark Souls will follow a similar fashion, some things are more difficult while some are easier (no soul form which halves your HP and bonfires i.e checkpoints).

Now I have read both Demon's Souls reviews and the Dark Souls reviews and previews and I have to say the reviewers are WAY exaggerating the difficulty. I completed Demon's Souls four times and I am by no means a pro. True the game has a STEEP LEARNING CURVE but when you finally understand how the game works and figure out the strategies for the boss fights it becomes much easier.

Don't let these clueless reviewers put you off the game. It is hard, but easier than games like Ninja Gaiden where the game itself is punishing rather than having a steep learning curve (there is a big difference)

Since there is a huge number of good games being released this fall and I am a student, I don't want to fail and can only choose between one of these two games.

Skyrim or Dark Souls.

I played both Oblivion and Demons Souls (as you can tell I like RPG's) and loved them both. But I enjoyed Demons Souls more because of Oblivions problems such as stupid design choices (all dungeons looked the same, lack of variety in environments, guards arrest you even if they don't see you commiting a crime e.t.c), one dimensional auto-leveling, bugs and glitches (on the PC) and a non-convincing world (I mean look at the stiff un-expressive faces of the NPC's!)

Granted I thought Oblivion could have been the better game if they had fixed up these issues from the get go.

I need you to advise me because I have been confused about this for some time.

[QUOTE="9a3iqa"]I have done some research but I still have neither played on a high-end rig or a PS3 with monitor so I cant possibly know what its like.alfredooo

I have played 360 on a monitor and it looks fine, better than the small crappy TV I used to have in my room. Getting sound is where it can get more complicated you will need something to get the VGA cables to connect to speakers or something. Sound should work fine as well but I can't speak from experience when it comes to it.

Ok thanks man. I just needed some reassurance.

[QUOTE="Frozzik"]I'd say it all depends on the games you like. If you have any interest in strategy games, any type, then PC is your best bet. If you like multiplats then id say overall PC is your best bet. If however you like the look of the PS3 exclusives then go PS3. It has some great games. I own both, graphically PC is in a different league. It does however lack action adventure exclusives. Makes up for this with some stunning Strategy games and MMO's. So many different variations of these genres make the PC a must for me. Also remember steam. You can quickly build up a great games library through deals alone.

I prefer RPG and Action Adventure mostly, I also like FPS and RTS but not as much as RPG and Action Adventure.

Depends on what games you want to play. [QUOTE="edidili"]

I don't know from experience but I've heard that a PS3 + monitor is not a good combo.

Who told you that, I do fine on my monitor.

For the time being I am planning on playing Mass Effect 2 and Demons Souls, in the future Skyrim, Dark Souls and Uncharted 3. Another game that interests me is Shogun 2.

Hello, I am new to this forum. Not sure if this is the place I should be posting but I read the rules and it doesnt say you cant post console vs pc/console threads. Anyway since I have basically started my summer holidays (I am at college) I figured I may as well get a console or a PC. I know how to build PC's and have already estimated that the mid-range PC I will build will cost me 600 GBP including the monitor (Has a X4 955 CPU and a HD 6870 GPU). Now in comparison the PS3 would cost me 150 GBP (used) + 100 GBP for a 1080p monitor so 250 GBP overall (I am planning on playing on a monitor an already know how to set up the monitor to work with the PS3). I have a decent bit of money in my bank account but I would prefer to save as much as possible for next year. Also I already have a laptop which is very good for internet browsing, photoshop and media but is HORRIBLE for games. Also for those playing with a PS3 using a HD monitor how is the experience (picture quality and sound)? For the time being I am planning on playing Mass Effect 2 and Demons Souls, in the future Skyrim, Dark Souls and Uncharted 3. Another game that interests me is Shogun 2. I know that you people have more experience than me in these things so I would appreciate it if you could provide more insight as to what the better option would be concerning my situation . Thanks!
