Patapon will entertain your ears and satisfy your gaming desire with a mixture of genres you have never seen before
In Patapon's case the developer succeeded to blend oil into water, it strangely mixed rhythm and strategy genres together and came up with one of the best games on Sony's handheld.
Patapons are small cute strange looking creatures that are lost and need guidance where you will become their god and guide them to the end of the earth by strumming certain musical notes to command them, in response they will sing and do what you command, this was the musical part of the game. The strategic part comes when you face an opposing tribe that tries to stop you from continuing your journey, here is the part where you will have to give the right commands to destroy the opposing army, you will also face great bosses and sometimes very tough ones.
Not only that , but you will be able to acquire different warrior classes because you only can march with three types of troops so you have to setup the right combination before starting a mission. You will be able also to equip stronger weapons and armors which are dropped from enemies during missions.
Beside that there are unlockable musical mini games that help you get strong items which are essential to strengthen your little army to defeat higher level bosses. There are other stuff to talk about but I don't want to ruin the fun.
The game visually looks very good and reminds us of LocoRoco's style, the music is very lovely and never make you get bored. The playtime isn't short either, you will have at least 15 hours of playtime before you finish the game and you will be able to play some more after completing the game because you can beat stronger versions of the bosses you have beaten during the game.
Patapon is a game you don't want to miss if you own a PSP, it is a game that will entertain your ears and satisfy your gaming desire with a mixture of genres you have never seen before.
