Mario Golf is THE game when it comes to Mario sports titles. Though it has successors which add new features and such, Mario Golf for the 64 is by far the best in the series, and for my money, one of the best games for the Nintendo 64. The visuals, for the time, are amazing. All the characters are bright and colorful, and the animations are great as well. The main point of the game is to beat the characters and unlock them as you do. The single-player mode is well done and fun to play, but multiplayer is where Mario Golf shines. Pick up a controller with a friend - or a few - and you're sure to have a blast. Nothing is more fun then sinking that clutch birdie putt on the 18th green to beat your friend for the umpteenth time. I spent my entire freshman year of college playing this game, and there's always more to comeback for. The courses are AMAZING and diverse, and each character has his/her own traits which make playing as the multitude of well-known characters more enjoyable. To finish it all off, the c-buttons as well as the d-pad act as noise makers which can be used to distract your opponent and can be quite hilarious in some cases (Peach). All in all, Mario Golf is a must have for any classic N64 owner, and I can only hope that it gets ported to the Virtual Console with a revamp.
