Have we forgotten about Gears 3?!
It's hard for me to compare these two games, but here goes. I think U3 will have better combat and action mechanics, while ME3 will have better dialogue and story.
So...The RPG will have aspects that make up an RPG and the Action Adventure will have better aspects that make up an Action Adventure?

Gears of War 3?
Sure Gears of War 2 got some Game of The Year Awards but I believe these 2 games will duke out for that award more than any other Game next Year.
[QUOTE="Episode_Eve"]So...The RPG will have aspects that make up an RPG and the Action Adventure will have better aspects that make up an Action Adventure? Dialogue and Story are an RPG aspect? My word.

I like the Mass Effect franchise a little more, but I love them both and they're both day one purchases for me. 2011 is going to be crazy.
After the VGAs, the hype trains for both games are full steam ahead 8)

Exactly ;).
Not to downplay Uncharted's story / dialogue or Mass' gameplay though! I do think that Uncharted 2 does a better job at storytelling than Mass 2 does at level design though.

you still have Zelda and maybe TLG![QUOTE="Episode_Eve"]So...The RPG will have aspects that make up an RPG and the Action Adventure will have better aspects that make up an Action Adventure? Being an RPG is not an excuse to have combat and action mechanics that are average at best. Especially when they make up a large component of the game.

What is an RPG if it doesn't nail the story? What better way to convey a story than through pristine dialogue?
I don't think this works very well anymore as a catfight because they're both on PS3... :P
shinrabanshou
But dude, a PS3 Exclusive losing to a Multiplat? Wouldn't that make some kind of a storm?
Let's take a look at the previous games....
Yes it's pretty clear who is better.

Because graphics are what matters?

you still have Zelda and maybe TLG!The Last Guardian will be a sleeper hit.
and Poor Nintendo...I think they really need to step their game up because with these two games I can't hype up Zelda...:(
Uncharted 3, which will probably be my GOTY, but then again there are FAR too many amazing games next year (including Zelda: SS :)) to jump to any conclusions lol.
such poor taste. i'm being led to the conclusion that you've never played Mass Effect 2. considering you are convinced the game looks like thatLet's take a look at the previous games....

Because graphics are what matters?R3FURBISHEDNo, what matters is how much effort developers put to make the game prime. And Bioware didn't put any effort. Linear corridor stages. No actual world to explore. Little to no RPG elements. Horrible textures Just rushed to release. You can see everywhere, how they just wanted to save money on stuff, instead of making the game better. That is why Bioware is a bad developer. You will notice the same thing on DA II as well.

I would hardly call the combat in Mass Effect 2 as average -- it was well executed, just was gimped by the dumb-as-rocks friendly AI the game gave you....save for Grunt. Krogans are a piece of cake to nail as far as combat goes. Make 'em strong and give 'em a strong shield and shotgun.

I don't....I don't even know. We are talking about Bioware? Pretty much the premier RPG developer in the video game world?

It was average, Kane and Lynch 2 had more exiting and better executed combat. Please Log In to post.
