Answer me this. What were the "Killer" PS2 launch titles?
Sony also already gave two new IP's this year while Microsoft gave none.
Releasing great games at launch is a huge waste of money and releasing something like TLOU on the next gen instead of the current gen most likely means less than 1 million sold instead of the 4 million it already sold.
They didn't have any. They also were going up against two crippled companies in Sega and Nintendo when the PS2 launched. Playing against the juggernaut MSoft is an entirely different matter.
Please stop comparing the PS2 era to this upcoming one. Sega was bankrupt before the Dreamcast even launched much like Sony this go around. Nintendo was also in the crapper with the GameCube and MSoft did not launch their first system until a year after the PS2. Nothing is similar about that gen and this one.
Oh come on be honest. Juggernaut? MS only leads in NA. That's not juggernaut. And Sony has either caught up or passed MS in consoles sold with one less year on the market. Juggernaut my ass.
As far as a company MSoft is bigger than Sega, Sony, and Nintendo combined. Their Xbox business is a babe in the woods compared to Sony and Nintendo and yet they took market share from Sony last gen almost crippling the company.
Like I said earlier I don't want to see the PlayStation brand fail but man it is looking very grim at this point.
LOL at gloating over a companies money. How did MS money help them with Zune?
It didn't. Zune was a failure, and the Surface is struggling mightily. Windows Phones aren't doing well. Xbox 360 lost its first month in years to the PS3.
And yet MS is worth likely twice the combined worth of Sony, Nintendo, and Sega. They made a very nice profit this last quarter.

"Microsoft Corp. surprised the market with a stronger-than-expected earnings report that shows a jump in its business-class software and cloud products, as well as an uptick in adoption of its Surface tablets and other devices.
Earnings for the first quarter ending in September were up 17 percent to $18.5 billion over the same period in 2012. Moreover, profits rose a strong 16 percent to $4.5 billion, driven mostly on the sale of its cloud services — Office 365, hosted servers and Azure platform — as well as server software.
Even better for Microsoft: Its Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 are seeing stronger than expected sales. The uptick in demand shows Microsoft can compete in the mobile device segment as fading interest in traditional desktop and laptop PCs continues to drag down demand for its Windows operating system.
“We are seeing lots of consumer excitement for Xbox One, Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2, and the full spectrum of Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone devices,” outgoing Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said in a statement."
No gloating here. MS is just a juggernaut financially and in very good shape as a company. Its as much a fact as the PS4 is more powerful than the Xbox One. Can't fight facts. But we don't play financial spreadsheets anymore than we play specs. We play games. Neither system will come close to failing, but MS sees the One as a long term investment in getting in your home livingroom. If it fails they'll eat it and keep going cause they're business model is set to win day one on every damn purchase. The PS4 means far more to Sony as that company is in very bad financial shape. Selling real estate to pay bills speaks volumes. The only people that will be sad if the One fails are people like me who want the system. MS will simply move on to whatever else is on the drawing board. The PS4 cannot fail for Sony. It can't. Period. They cannot afford for it to fail. Did any division in Sony made a profit last quarter? Like even one? Even the movies or music?
