SONY has been console king for almost 25 years! That's AMAZING!!!

When PS1 launched, almost 25 years ago, SONY blew the competition away. Literally.

and ever since, SONY and Playstation have been the console kings. Uncontested kings.

Just think about it. 25 years or uncontested reign! Thats like a lifetime!

Heck, younger people here do not even know of time when SONY was not the king! For them, SONY has always ruled supreme.

I remember buying PS1 at launch, all those years ago. I was the first in my circle of friends to get the console, and it blew us away, even tho we all had been gaming for a decade and more already.

No they havent. 360 was console king until around the end of that generation and even then most multiplat developers still had 360 as their lead development platform.

I'm going all PC next gen but I'll admit that all of the Sony consoles where awesome, from the original to even the vita. (Although Vita did have a long way to go and the original price for the PS3 was a tad too much at launch.)

Still, the Xbox 360 did have marginally better exclusives in my opinion compared to the PS3 so RROD aside it was a pretty good console.

As far as the Wii is concerned...how many of you actually bought more then twenty games for it? I have like six and their's only about five more that I'm interested in buying, (Excluding gamecube games of course.) those being Pikmin 2, Super Mario galaxy ( 1 & 2), Pokemon battle revolution, and Sim city creator. I still like the system, but not a lot of exclusive games I'm interested and would rather buy third party on Xbox, PC, or Sony.

Now the Nintendo DS...Ah, now there was a console! Yu Gi Oh world championship 2008, Sim city societies, Urbs, Sims in the city, too many Pokemon games, Super Mario Bros, Transformers, Assault... I could go on.

Henry the Fifth is talking about 25 years of UNCONTESTED reign. Well, the xbox 360 and wii were certainly serious contestors, so you can't call Sony uncontested. That being said Sony has been dominating the competition most of the time, because it has succeeded in giving customers what they want : A no-nonsense, affordable console. Only the PS3 got it wrong and paid the price.

Quality wise it's subjective. PS1 and PS4 are two of my favourite gaming systems of all time, and deserved every bit of their success. PS2 and PS3 were very overrated, in my opinion.

PS2 was my all time favourite system as it great games and ps1 compatibility. I never got a PS3 until late in its lifecycle as 360 had everything I wanted in a console last generation. Xbox one in my opinion has the better console features but PS4 has the games which matter which can't be argued.

They won 3 out 0f 4 gens by a big margin. That is really impressive for sure. Yeah I say they are the k9ng of console for sure.

They dominated PS2 and this gen. PS1 and PS3 no. The Wii sold more than both the PS3 and Xbox to the point that they were $25 at the end of its life cycle.

Well as a PC/Nintendo guy I really can’t argue. Sony had definitely dominated the console market and are the choice of the masses. I’m just glad Nintendo stepped up to the plate to give them some much needed competition.

3 out of the 4 most recent gens were DOMINATED by Playstation. And even in the PS3 gen, PS3 came close to Wii and ultimately had small win over 360.

Nintendo got ABSOLUTELY HUMILIATED by Sony from mid 90's. N64 was the beginning of the end and Nintendo now needs to bundel their power and make frankenstein hybrids to even compete in the gaming market.

What's sad is that if it weren't for the devious shit Nintendo pulled with Sony back in the 16 bit era, Sony would have never been competing in the first place.

Sony was the king of the generation that was PS3, maybe not at the beginning but MS lost interest half way through and let it slip.

Especially when you consider most Xbox360's broke and needed replacing at the consumers own expense.

I personally blame Nintendo more then I do with Sony controlling power. Nintendo could've handle that situation with Sony if they made more balls to tell Sony "our way or the highway" but nope, they embarrassed Sony and Nintendo still holds a grudge against Sony because they created their own worst enemies.

Yeah, I fully agree with you there. Nintendo completely deserved to lose their market share to Sony. And they're still stubborn to this day. It's really frustrating, because a part of me wants to see Nintendo on top again, but I don't that's ever going to happen.

Pretty sure Nintendo still has a current gen home console you can buy. It's Sony that bowed out of the handheld market because they got spanked twice.
