Sony: DSi is another KIDS PRODUCT!!!

Sony director of hardware marketing John Koller has suggested that the DSi might not be enough to help Nintendo widen its user base beyond a youth audience. He went on to tell Gizmodo that the DSi would likely follow in the successful footsteps of the DS Lite, sales of which have dominated the handheld market globally, but questioned whether the new portable had the potential to widen Nintendo's user base, which he said consisted mainly of children.

Will DSi do well with the DS's demographic? It probably will. Will it be a product that expands their user base beyond under 12? I'm not sure," he added.

I own 3 DSs and 3 GBA.....So I expect I will own 3 DSi

Either this is just the dumbest statement on Sonys behalf or proof that they misunderstood the handheld market with the PSP.

First of all the DS is the best selling console month in month out and with people of all ages playing with it.

This may show why the PSP has less appeal and Sony can't work out why, Nintendo know what is different about the handheld market and what people want from it.

There is also a saying "respect your enemies" and the lack of this in the games industry shows its immaturity still. Especially the way MS and Sony go at it.

But to give Nintendos new device constructive criticism is one thing, to jump on them with the kiddy angle all the time shows such immaturity. Its also ironic that a company like Sony do it, while Nintendo stay quiet (most of the time).

So what is it Sony? Nintendo are either your competitors or they arn't. Sonys says otherwise yet still takes the time to take jabs, interesting.

How embarrassing for the rest of the Sony group who do act mature.

who ever says it not for kids then there blind. it aimed for kids there for it is for kids. about 90% of ds owners are kids that got for x-mas. sure some adults play it but like i said more kids play the ds.

It seems to me that there is a 3rd version of the PSP coming out as well. Same thing happened with the PS2 and PS1. I should know, I have my launch PS2 that only plays PS2 games and a functional slim replacement:D
