MMOFPS for the win. Of course console kids will say its irrellevant because its part MMO which means it just supports a lot of people lolol.

The next Crysis? :o

Not really. It looks fantastic but a big hit comes from all the people it has to render.
Although some of the ground/rock textures are really crappy (unless they updated them since the beta)
Crappy is generous. They're downright hideous sometimes. Luckily you don't concentrate on them ever
Nice, I never got into the beta (even when I was "in" I just didn't play it for some reason) and so now I guess I can jump in clean into the full experience.

On my 670 I was getting 30-50 frames sometimes when there weren't a lot of people around or not much happening. And that was the lowest settings. Sometimes it would smooth out to higher numbers but overall it was hugely inconsistent for me.

Heads up, Nvidia relesed beta drivers today for PS2
Got em ;)
How well do the beta drivers work?

Ultra isn't coming for awhile, like mid 2013 at the ealiest. It wasn't about optimization, it was about their target hardware requirements. Hardware to run the game on ultra isn't really out yet. Sure, a quad SLI machine may be able to, but they aren't bothering because nobody can use it.
You can unlock it in the .ini but it's not officially supported.

How well do you guys think my laptop would run it? I got a dual core i5 M430 2.27 ghz 4gb RAM and a HD 4670 1gb. I'd be okay with low settings and <1080p. Do you think I'd be able to maintain 30ish fps at ANY setting?
My AMD 6870 died on me last night so I had to pop in my old 4670. You'll do about 10-15FPS low settings at 1024x768.The HD 4850 is the minimum requirement lol surprised you even that many

Haven't been in game yet, apparently they help though with inconsistent framerates and try smooth everything out
Ugh. I'm a "console kid". The game is plenty relevant, and I enjoyed the bit I played of the beta. Perhaps you should stop presuming what we have to say?MMOFPS for the win. Of course console kids will say its irrellevant because its part MMO which means it just supports a lot of people lolol.

Also did anyone avail of that triple station cash thing that was held for one day only a few weeks back? I got like 5 euros worth of Station Cash and normally it would translate to 500 in game but I got 1500 :D
So I jumped in for a few. Killed me a tank, and had me a "star Wars" moment hat blew my mind. I was on a heavy passanger truck and enemy ships flew overheard ina snowy landscape. Felt like I was in Hoth!
Any vids you guys would recommend to a newbie. I am so lost.
I'm on the red team... but guys wiht a red marker are NOT, appaarently my buddies. The blue guys are. Argh!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gvXlHyApxY - FrankieonPC1080 Beginners guide to the game, haven't played the game but this looks like a nice introduction to it.
Probably won't get the opportunity to download it and give it a try for a couple days, but looking forward to it.
The f*ck is wrong with this game? I managed to get into one server and play a little but now when I try to join a server it crashes to the desktop and tells me "MALFUNCTION" and then the game wont even start up until I reboot my computer.
Been playing for the better part of 6 hours off and on and I've gotta say I'm impressed how well it runs compared to the beta. Can't say I noticed a dip to low 40fps or had any hitches.
A lot of crazy experiences defending biolabs. But I have noticed an overall lack of coordination today with all the people running around not knowing what to do haha.
Finally got to play some. It's alright. The size and scope of it is pretty impressive, but the battles kind of lack a sense of excitement. It feels more like a clusterf*ck. Maybe I just gotta learn the ropes to appreciate it more.
I'm also playing on low graphics settings so I imagine I'm missing out on a lot of the spectacle.

Yeah, that's definitely not the game I played. On low settings it looks like a PS3 launch title :(
And during massive battles the framerate still starts to chug for me.

I think he's actually TR, he is talking about the little spotted arrows above characters. Blue/green is your team/squad while red is enemies. For tutorials, check out rivalXfactor's channel on youtube, he did a bunch of official Planetside 2 tutorial videos
I'm playing it on max settings and the framerate difference between max and low isn't that much compared to most games. I'd say learn to dogfight, learn to snipe, otherwise you're pretty much forced into playing with a team of players. Finally got to play some. It's alright. If you have a Nvidia card word on the street is that the new beta drivers help a ton, yo.Runs 30-40 FPS on high during the big fights for me. Medium settings never went under 50, low would be in the 100s.
They haven't even put in the ultra setting because it's targeting computers that aren't even available yet.

Will download the game later on today.. Problem is got too many games and yesterday also received COD:BO2...
I hope my PC will run the game smoothly on decent settings..
The people in the beta were added slowly so everyone got to learn in time but now its gone live there is a huge influx of people that don't know what to do...of course its gonna be uncoordinated.
Also i am amazed at how many ppl today are unable to learn game mechanics just by playing and then moaning about the quality of the game because they are too inept to learn and to take the time to learn.
Whats the biggest a battle actually is? I would imagine there would be numerous smaller battles featuring up to a few hundred rather than the full on 2k.
also downloading, hopefully will be a nice change of pace from what I've been playing for the past 3 months (Smite) and Halo 4.
First impression: performance has been optimized significantly since beta. Created a character, hopped right in, and got a couple kills. Ran way smoother than before. Then the servers went down.
I'm trying hard to care about this, but I really can't.
It's odd , I loved the first planetside, and was hyped for this a few months back.
There could be 2K people in one spot fighting; there's no restriction or divvying up. Due to the nature of the battlefield being a massive continent, the frontlines are naturally spread. Which isn't to say they can't converge on a single location - in the first Planetside they did and factions could have last stands before being pushed right off the map.Whats the biggest a battle actually is? There seens to be a huge demand for the game. Usually Steam for me is fast but today it's slow as for downloading PS2

Same. Willing to bet the servers are being crushed at the moment, especially considering how large the game is.i hear its free...or so the steam home page says socampzoryeah its free to play which is why everyone should try it out

Question:-
How's the gameplay specially the shooting mechanics?
Also is there teamwork involved or you end up running on your own most of the time? (i know teamwork depends on how players approach the game, but when joining a game does it throw you in with a small team of other players, or randomly on your own)
It does start you off in a random battle but you can join up with a squad. It has built in VOIP too.Question:-

^^^Consolites in a nutshell. Not necessarily. I only play objectives or support and don't worry about KDR. But hey, I guess if you're okay with being wrong, then your generalization works too.[QUOTE="Zurrur"]

K/D ratio is the only thing that matters

Shooting takes awhile to get use to, specially vehicle combat.
The maps are pretty big so it honestly depends on if your faction has pushed out or is getting pushed back can affect if how many people are in a area that is on your faction. I was playing the game for around 8 hours yesterday and I don't think I wasn't in the middle of some big fight that was 100 vs 100 or so. Joining a game/map I think is random where it drops you, same when it comes down to being in a squad I believe cause I've spawned being in a squad and sometimes not being in one, I have no idea if that is working as intended or not.
As for team work, smaller objectives can be done alone if there's not a lot of people in the area, though assaulting a "bigger" base will always require teamwork, same as defending an objective.
