What is Forge? (serious question as I really do not play Halo other than trying it out a few times)

As for the missing co-op that is disappointing for Halo fans, but at least it still has the regular campaign for them

Content complete and fixing the final bugs back in January to delaying the coop campaign and forge in late August… What the hell is going on over there at 343?!?!

I see 343 still has some major questions about their competency.

So it’s going to have vanilla MP and single-player campaign? That’s it? For how long they’ve been working?

Co-op campaign will release 3 months post launch and Forge will launch 6 months post launch .. so not a terrible delay for the co-op IMO

As for 6 months for Forge, how many people use things like that? Perhaps they traditionally have lower attachment rates to things like that and they are putting priority on the most popular items first (guessing here)

I'll just hone my skills in MP at first then.

Unfortunate for those who want those features at launch but honestly I never used them myself. Doesn’t seem like it’ll be a terribly long wait for them anyway.

@Archangel3371: @regnaston: You both would have a good point if the game wasn’t delayed a year already, and the devs didn’t say they were done with the the content back in January. There is something VERY off here.

Since it's 343 that means we'll see co-op in a year and forge will be outright canceled.

every littlle piece of expected halo content spread out as "free" updates to keep you on gamepass!!

No campaign co-op is a pretty big effing deal, Halo co-op has for me always been where these games shine, and no doubt they are going to take a beating over this come review time. At least the plans are to have that wrapped up three months after release. I would have preferred they prioritized the co-op over the competitive MP in lead-up to release.

Honestly they'd probably be better off just releasing the MP part alone then following with the campaign later. Too late now though.

Pretty much my reaction, thank God for that delay. But even then... this news is just so damn weird.

This happened with Uncharted 4 as well. It was pathetic then. It's pathetic now.

The people who made Bungie great aren't there anymore.

Personally I don't care about co-op campaign or the Forge. I know this will upset some but not me. I'll probably boot up the online campaign first anyways. Hopefully they'll get the update out for others in a timely manner though.

3 month co-op delay. No problem here.

@regnaston: Forge is a custom game/map editor tool. It allows you to upload custom game types with map alterations. You can pick spawn locations for players and weapons and vehicles. You can change the speed and gravity of the game type. The halo fan base has done alot of cool things with forge. You could compare it to what players did on CS DoD and TF2 on steam back in the day. Forge allows players to upload their custom game types/maps for others players to save to play.

Its cool asf for the MP player base. Wish it was ready at launch but I can wait. Forge was introduced in Halo 3.

1 year and 3 month co-op delay. And the game was “content complete“ 8 months ago… There’s something very wrong at 343

@fedor: Bungie fell from grace themselves. Its not the halo 1-3 team any more. Wish people stop saying halo needs Bungie. It really doesn't.

Games get delayed all the time. Doesn't bother me. I don't care the God of War 2, GT7 and Horizon Forbidden West have all been delayed for a year. The fact they they are focusing on quality is what is most important to me.

COVID is a huge issue for these companies. We have the same problem at our company and we are still down over 50% of our workforce for our corporation.

Not bothered about Forge, but no co-op at launch is gonna suck. I'll play the campaign and do another run-through with my brother when it releases.

After all the delays, they still don't have their shit together. What a disaster.

I think Phil should give the devs extra time to make it a complete game. What are the benefits of forcing 343i to launch an incomplete game when he knows there will be backlash against it?

He already gave them an extra year.

An additional year was given to them. Over 500mil, probably closer to 600mil at this point. But they don't have coop. No coop in a Halo game. 343i is a joke.

Xbox is hundreds of millions of dollars deep at this point. The game has been in production forever. AND we were all told the game was done 8 months ago… 343 has got to go. Unless the game ends up being amazing. But I’m not counting on it

Of all the Halo games, Halo 4 is what I am thinking of here with the lack of co-op. In all the other games I could grab warthogs and UNMC marine NPCs would jump in and man the guns and provide support, and if there were extra vehicles and extra NPCs then they'd drive their own while other NPCs provide support. In broad swaths of Halo 4 the Master Chief is alone and players can find warthogs without NPCs to gun them and it's really co-op that makes it feel like it's being played like it is meant to be. And co-op is really the best way to do Legendary runs. To not have co-op is like having an incomplete campaign, or that is how I see it, since in the only campaign gameplay we have seen he is all alone aside from cutscenes and comms. Releasing the campaign without co-op is a big mistake, it would be better IMO to delay it 3 months. They're going to have a hard time having this push Game Pass if the reviewers are going to shit on it for being an incomplete game either.

@lamprey263: you are probably right, they will dock it for co op being delayed.

Kind of seems unfair imo when most games are a SP 20 hour long game, can score a 8-9 and doesn't attempt co-op or MP or something ambitious like forge at all.

It sucks it's delayed but at least it is being done. I can't think of one Sony game that has the trifecta SP, MP, and CO OP.

You know, if GP wasn't a thing, i think that the sales for this game would've been so pathetic that it would destroy Halo's image, or what's left of it. So in reality, GP is actually saving Halo as a franchise lol.

Didn't they announce a while ago the campaign was coming out later? Maybe it changed but that's what I thought it was.

Poll I saw on a Halo FB group. The well majority didn't care about this, which I was surprised to see. If people in a Halo FB group aren't pissing and moaning about this, it truly isn't a concern then, cause they'd be the first to be foaming at the mouth in a tizzy over.
