It has me worried about whether or not I will like the game. I want it to be more like NSMBWii than NSMB for the DS, and if it's more like the latter than I'll be left a little disappointed.

Overall, whatever is keeping Nintendo from changing up the game needs to stop. Are they afraid changing too much will ruin the money-making formula? Are they just lazy with this cash-grab?

What this game is is a commentary about Nintendo made by Nintendo. Mario is Nintendo's mascot, thus representing the company as a whole. So in this game you play as Nintendo and you see how easy it is to get bucket-loads of money. Die in a level? That just represents a failure of Nintendo such as early in the 3DS lifecycle, don't worry too much about it though because you'll get another shot with another life that you've earned from all the money you've made. And in this game, you probably won't have to worry about running out of lives or coins.

Still buying at release though I'm left wondering if I should support the New Super Mario Bros series when I believe Nintendo is being lazy with the franchise.

I agree, sometimes I agree with their reviews (not the scores) and sometimes I don't but it never influences my buying decisions. If I want it, I'm getting it regardless of someone I don't know's opinion.

I think I'll skip this one, unless they increase the difficulty.

I don't even consider it as harsh, I mean harsh is like a 6. 8.5 is a great score. Its crazy how a good score in gaming means like 80+ and in every other median its like a 60+.

It is quite surprising that Gametrailers reviewed the game as it usual reviews games around their North American release dates.

I think I'll skip this one, unless they increase the difficulty.
