Sorry, I can't give them that credit. They're knocking Sony for doing this when Sony doesn't even have to. It's just milking nostalgia as a quick buck. MS is leaning on b/c as a selling point because they're low on new content. That's not really a thing to be proud of.

There's nothing to suggest that you must purchase the games first, in which case they're not free. This is literally the first time I've ever seen backwards compatibility referred to as "free games", and it's blatantly misleading.

If you happen to own all those games then it means you paid cash monies for them, which means they're not free. If you don't happen to own all those games then it means you have to pay cash monies for them if you want to play them on your shiny new Xbone, which means they're still not free.

Any neutral person would have see that the add was misleading and basically damage controlling a sony announcement,like if the PS4 could even play PS1 games in any way even if sony wanted,the PS4 doesn't freaking read CD's it can't read CD's so basically even if they update the platform to support it by emulation it would not work since the disc inserted would not be freaking recognize by the PS4.
But did they advertise those games when Nintendo announce the Nes or Snes mini?

$80 dollars with 21 games,in case you don't know the PS use CD base game,in 1 CD yould store half the roms release for the Snes,so memory wise it can have a damn 4GB flash memory and fit all games.
The PS mini isn't so easy as its game do require more space.
And it wasn't like the Snes and PS were priced the same when they launch either.

If that statement is correct Sony could say "use PS Now to play 100s of games for free". It's also misleading. In fact Sonys approach is probably cheaper than buying 500 past gen games for the X1

Nope. BC is free on Xbox. PSNow costs money. Yeah, you have to pay for the games, but that's what BC is.
