[QUOTE="lamprey263"]I warned of this in the thread where the people were talking about how to get an advanced copy, they've done this before as well with other titles. Nobody should act surprised. Play that shot offline and don't go online again until the game releases.savagetwinkie
This is a known policy and has been the case for over 5 years now. It's nothing new. Not sure why gamers are surprised.
The probably can easily be solved by turning off your network when you go to play the game. This way there's no way for M$ to know you are playing the game. Just pull the ethernet cable out of the XBox or turn your wifi off. Problem solved. Then reconnect it after 12 mid on Tuesday morning.
you might have achievements then prior to the release and M$ will know you played the game.
This is pretty crappy. The only possible reason for this type of action is to control what possible buyers see to maximize sales. If a user wants to see more of the game before purchasing this forces them to wait and possibly forfeit any reserve bonuses or buy it the first day.Â
If people want to be fully surprised by the game they can choose not to watch. THere is absolutely no benefit for any one other than the publisher for this.
online achievements seem time stamped but offline achievements not the case, even after updating online, so I don't think it'll be an issue unless they look into it and they determine there's no way this guy got 1000/1000 1 hour after release... yeah, try to avoid that
