Is Switch proof that the average gamer doesn't care that much about resolution/fps?

Like others have said... consoles in general are pretty much proof of it.

I used to not notice fps issues - but have become much more aware of them in recent years and some of the games that I used to play and had no issue with are borderline unplayable now.

If 60fps is not significantly more common on consoles next gen, I'll probably get a stronger pc before I get a new console.

Mehh definitely proof that gamers care more about gameplay than pretty movies which imo is a good thing!

@Sevenizz: Nintendo Switch has broken sales records. If the average gamer gave af about power don't you think that 1) They wouldn't have purchased the Nintendo Switch to begin with. 2) They would have played their more powerful console that they already owned instead.

The 3rd party games on the Switch don't sell well because gamers are to busy buying and playing Nintendo's first party games. The ones that look like PS2 games according to posters on here.

Conclusion, if people cared about power Nintendo's hardware and software wouldn't be selling at all.

I don't think so. Games tend to be in the acceptable territory for what the system is. Since you can take it on the go, the expectations toward it change. The Witcher looks and performs objectively worse on it, but it's also portable.

If the Switch was just a home console and not a hybrid, I would say yes.

I think its a bit complicated then sw would like it to be. Its simple the switch is a mainstream novelty that does not need those stuff and yes average gamers don't care for that shit. For example Sony cant just go hey Fate prints money like no other software we have. Why not put the exact same thing on ps4 see if its going to move shit. Its for gamers isn't it. Yeah mostly what bassman said.

All I had to do was take a quick look at your comments:

If you are using the X1, PS4 and PC as the benchmark to show why people care about graphics/resolution/fps, can't a low res/graphics console (on the market since 2011and BEFORE the X1 and PS4) still being sold today be figured into the equation as well or do we pick and choose because quite frankly the goalposts seem to move with the wind.

Yeah, depends on the genre really. A locked 60 for most games is great and it's hard to notice a a difference beyond that.

But if we're talking first person shooters, especially the faster ones, 60fps is noticeably rough.

The 3ds is a current gen system although it might not be up to the contemporary standards of resolution. Lets not toss away any exculpatory evidence.

Meh, to be honest 60 fps is where it's at for me atm. But for FPS games I guess yeah in some cases people want to go with higher frames.

Yup. It's all about games first. At least, for gamers that is.
