There are already several GOTY candidates out and we're only half way through the year. I'm not yet convinced that MGSV will be another one. I'm actually not that convinced that it won't completely flop either.

It may be inconceivable to you but from reading this thread that's not surprising either. Personally I'll wait and see, there are far too many games hyped to hell and back only to disappoint on release.
Game is slowly growing on me the more I see of it, not a big fan of stealth games but apparently you don't have to go stealth if you don't want to. The other thing, which wins points in my book, is that your horse is "exceptionally well animated" according to Gamespot. That comment hit a soft spot because I just love riding horse in games and I'm always interested in the subtle differences from one game to another. Gonna try to get into and finish ground zeroes before this comes out. 2015 is just a great year for games, too much to play.
Glad somebody posted that man. I've been away on business (still am) and haven't had the time abuse the forums with my usual MGSV preaching. Between the OPM and OXM previews I'm EVEN MORE hyped though man. As if that should even be possible.

Better story? Oh, please. The Phantom Pain will have the most emotionally and psychologically charged story in gaming history. What could be more captivating than the story of a man who's lost nearly everything, that is to say hundreds of his fellow soldiers, the base of operations that he and they fought tooth and nail to create, part of his left arm, and even part of his mind due to large piece of shrapnel that was projected into his brain as a result of being in a helicopter crash? What could be more gripping than the tale of a legendary hero whose anger and lust for revenge drive him to commit immoral acts, such as recruiting child African soldiers, getting involved in the trade of African blood diamonds, and torturing innocent people?
Unless you're born with half a brain and actually think Kojima is a good writer and the MGS series ever had good gameplay, I don't see how that's not possible.
I don't think the stories of any other games released this year or that will be released this year will compare to that of a heartbroken and mentally unstable man on an intercontinental quest for revenge.

Nothing really new here, but still some nice impressions in this video.
Everyone is going on about how lengthy the game is (about their percentage of completion vs. hours spent), but for the first time we're hearing about the game size as a whole. Of course Konami rep, so grain of salt and all that. He says he's wrapping up the main story at about 50 hours. Still only 52% complete.
As for the previous hateraid in this thread, this video again reconfirms for 1000th time that.
The world is massive.
The freedom of play is ridiculous.
It is free roam from the very moment you set foot in Afghanistan.
The story isn't all in your face all the time, you can play for hours on end without seeing a cutscene.
It will be the third and final (unless Fallout 4 is announced for this year) masterpiece of 2015.
What are the other masterpieces of 2015, in your opinion? For me, they're Batman: Arkham Knight and Bloodborne.
BB and TW3. Those two are what i consider quality games.
I haven't played either yet. Which is better? Looking for deeper combat than just hack and slash which both look to be heavy on. And Fallout 4 is very much possible for this year, wasn't Skyrim announced the same year it came out?

That's setting the bar real low, man. I mean, I don't disagree MGS is up there in the ranks of good video game stories, but considering how convoluted and melodramatic most of it is, it's not a patch on film, television, or literature.
The best part about MGS isn't the convoluted plot, but playing within the convoluted plot. Kojima seriously writes some dumbass things, but if it means you get to play out a completely wacky scenario, you suspend your disbelief for a brief moment until the next bit of stupidity comes down on you hard like a five ton truck.
I'm looking forward to it, but its just never been the be all, end all franchise for me. Might get GOTY here, but that doesn't really concern me either way.
