How did 360 become the #1 selling console worldwide with the PS3 price drop?

How did the awesome beast of a console called the 360 perform so well last year against the PS3 price drop and all of their supposedly awesome exclusives. This is just unheard of. Can someone explain this phenomenon.

Far better games of course and best versions of multipltforms

Skyrim, Dark Souls, Crysis 1-2 are better on 360 (far better in Skyrim case)

Fable 3, Halo REach, Gears 3, Bastion, Forza, Mass Effect, Kameo, Lost ODyssey, Blue Dragon, Tales of Vesperia, Alan Wake etc

Soon Witcher 2, Mass Effect 3 KINECT, Draco, Dust, Ryse, Alan Wake AN etc

.

Just gets 99% of my gaming, so it is expected to sell like that

Also PS3 has mostly rents, i have not bought a single PS3 exlusive after Demons Souls in 2009, which is rather pathetic for Sony lineup, they should make some real games

Also you should take into account the failure rates from 2005-2008 worldwide and how many people re-bought 360's. 04dcarraher

if it was not for US,the many units people had to re-buy more than 1x 360 console (like myself) and the fact 360 has always been cheaper than PS3 , most probably PS3 would be ahead !!!

But hey lets just not keep these into account,since these are irrelevant right?

Japan? Not really, considering the fact that neither 15 million PS3's or even Wii's have been sold to consumers in Japan.

Japan is more interested in the handheld gaming market.

The redesign and Kinect one-two punch were all that was needed. I'm interested to see where it goes when price drops come into effect. The Xbox360 hasn't had a price drop in a few years... Whereas the PS3 has had two already in the same timeframe.Stevo_the_gamer

Because on xbox 360 you don't have hour long updates for games older than 6 months ontop of the installs. *cough*Little big planet 2, every ps3 exclusive*cough*

I always find it funny how this isnt brought up more and is always disregarded. Me personally, I bought 4 and 2 still work, Every friend I have has at least bought 2. The most I've heard of that I knew was true was 7.

To answer a previous post on reasons to own a 360, I can't for anyone but myself. For me, its because I can't play halo, gears, fable, kameo, graw, forza, KOTOR 1&2, crackdown on a ps3. Many multis perform better on it, I prefer the online and controller. I own a ps3 for uncharted, god of war, kz. Its all individual tastes. Someday quite a few of you will start to realize this and let it go. There is no objective right and wrong, just what's right/wrong for you.cainetao11

the number 1 reason that the 360 is doing better than the ps3 is because of walmart which is the most sold games sell at walmart. please dont laugh at me ask the common gamer that does not go on game sites ect. i went toa friends house and his friend was over and ask why do you have a 360 instead of ps3. lol he told me they have way more exclusives. i ask him to list some evey game he listed except for gears 3 was miltiplat. it is true you go to walmart you see alot more of multiplats sold for the 360 in stead of both. there got to be a reason for this may by microsofts doing i don't know. gamestop is an hour away and i have to drive that because they don't sell kingdoms of what ever its called for the ps 3 there.
