Halo is the most important franchise in history

Before Halo games and consoles were seen as toys. When Halo came out it changed everything and proved gaming can be a serious form of entertainment like movies. Halo 2 made online a standard for consoles and paved the way for games like Call of Duty. So without Halo gaming would have never evolved into the huge form of entertainment it is today.

I'd say if we want to be important things like Pac man,Doom,Mario,Final Fantasy,GTA and such are far more important.

That's impossible! No one would be stupid enough to ignore Half-Life, Grand Theft Auto III, Metal Gear Solid, The Legend Of Zelda, Counter Strike, World of Warcraft or any of the literally dozens to hundreds of titles that could deserve the title of "most important franchise in history".

I refuse to believe anyone is so stupid as to ignore those games, because from an objective standpoint Halo is factually not the most important franchise, and the absurdity of such a claim would lend itself to a joke, and only as a joke.

So without Halo gaming would have never evolved into the huge form of entertainment it is today.

If it wasn't for Halo, m$ probably wouldn't have gotten the xbox off the ground yes, so it was very important but...

A few games Off hand I can think of that are more important.

Mario bros. - Saved the industry, without it, nintendo wouldn't have brought the industry back so strong or quickly.

Pong - First real game, really fun, causual, created interest in the industry.

Mario 64 - 3d games basically all sucked before this came out. It showed people how it was done, and alot of copying occured. Zelda 64 to a similar but lesser extent.

So Halo is the best series ever because it had online on consoles? Because that would be Halo 2, and that would be after other console titles introduced online gaming to consoles, not to mention the fact that online gaming existed on PC long before consoles had it.

There's not point even attempting to argue OP, even with dozens of titles that have had a massive influence on gaming way more then Halo, OP is simply going to ignore the points or pretend his opinion is somehow fact.

I don't believe Halo is the most important franchise in video game history but its certainly in the top 3, along with Mario and PacMan. When you think of video game, almost always Mario, PacMan or MasterChief pops up into one's mind.

It is an important milestone in console history(and online gaming).

However, it is not the most important.

I would probably place games like Quake as being more influential than Halo due to their influence on the series that you're touting so heavily.

The most important games actually comes from the PC.
