Forza 5 Review, Flop or Not?

@Stevo_the_gamer: which is pretty wierd that gs was very forgiving in that point .... i remember that gt5 also was praised for game play but it didnt prevent the game from being hammered.

A dozen features... goes on to list 5. Haha. But seriously Turn 10 already said they could put the content in but won't because they wanted to update their laser scans on every track and make it extremely accurate. I am down with that if they offer some DLC at a decent $.

Gamespot seemed to be very generous with this game. I don't see how a game with half the content of the last game in the series can outscore it.

That just doesn't make any sense to me. Other reviewers are pointing it that out and giving the game a lower score because of it.

Turn 10 spent six months on each car that is in Forza 5 - they're not included in the game because they weren't done when the game was finished.

Forza has had DLC dating back to Forza 2 and Microsoft is in the business of making money. It is what it is. (thats how I see it)

Exactly! Forza 5 has a ton of lack of features and has only its gfx (debatable), it's released for NEXT GEN consoles, and it gets a 9 here at GS (which reviewing system is pathetic). It is strange!

Agreed. Forza getting a 9 is like Bungie, Naughty Dog, and Bethseda getting a 9. The pedigree and history of certain devs equal high quality every time. I am very impressed by Forza 5

In regards to the Eurogamer review:

All that's left is the grind, and it's not a particularly pleasant one. Unlike previous outings, cars don't unlock upon levelling up. Everything must be bought in Forza Motorsport 5, and all transactions take place in a slightly misshapen economy. A series will, on average, net the player in excess of 110,000 credits for just under an hour's effort - but with some of the premium racecars costing well over a million, it's a somewhat brutal grind. Good job, then, that there are tokens purchasable on the Xbox One's marketplace for you to attain the car you're after, or to temporarily boost the rate at which you gain XP. When you've already paid £429.99 for a new console, £44.99 for the game and maybe even £349.99 for the only steering wheel that the game supports at launch, such tricks appear a little unsavoury, and in Forza 5, mechanics greedily smuggled from free-to-play games trample over the elegant RPG elements the series once embraced so effectively.

I don't understand the point of this - I paid money for my console so the content in the games I bought shouldn't be difficult to acquire?
Was it Turn 10 that produced the software/firmware in the Xbox One that only allows for the second rate steering wheel support?

I wonder what if GT5 removed the standard cars and only was released with the premium ones ... I guess it would have scored AAA and AAAA everywhere based on Forza 5 review !!!!!

The One launch is superior by a wide margin at this point and it only gets better from here.
