Forza 5 Review, Flop or Not?

All of this combined makes Forza Motorsport 5 an outstanding improvement to an already excellent racing franchise. It's far more than just a great racing sim, or a gorgeous showcase for the types of feats the Xbox One hardware is capable of. This is a game built on the romantic thrill of motorsport in all its forms, and that love for its subject matter is all but impossible to resist.

haha what a joke of a review. has less content then predecessor yet still scores 9. good game for racing fans probably but not a system seller i dont think just a substitute. anyway normal service will resume tomo when ryse scores 6

Dat Damage Control. I'd rather have fewer cars I'd like to race than have thousands of cars like the Honda Odyssey, must explain why Gran Turismo hasn't been good in over a decade

All trolling aside, Its a good series. I'm glad MS has a consistent AAA developer under their flawless belt. They should secure these guys as 1st party material.

Congrats to Microsoft... Forza 5 = highest rated launch game of gen 8... Fact. Cows keep talking but their words are weightless for the moment.

Well if Forza flops than Xbox One launch will be affected overall because I doubt that Dead Rising 3 alone will sell the Xbone. And we know Ryse is really just a demo version being that it's a very short game as we've been told. I'm getting Forza 5 at launch I just hope that I'm not disappointed. What the developers have promised is a graphical masterpiece so I'm not expecting much more out of the gameplay than Forza 4. Handling wise I really really hope that they tightened up the controls but not too arcade like.

If you value Eurogamer's opinion so much, go there instead. This is Gamespot, it got a 9.0 here - meaning it didn't flop. Deal with it.

Now now... there is nothing overly bad put in this thread.

Metacritic seems to be closer to what I was hyping it for (AAE), and the not so great reviews out there are coming down on them pretty hard for the lack of content (which I agree with 100%).

I think this paragraph from EGM sums things up nicely:

"But when you finally do get on a track, Forza Motorsport 5 maintains the tradition of providing great control along with some stunningly realistic graphics. For all my complaints, this is still Forza, and the actual act of zooming down a virtual raceway is still top notch. The issue is simply this: When you slap down $60 for this game (and possibly another $50 for the DLC Season Pass), you’re not getting nearly as much out of it as you did with previous entries. Career mode has been unnecessarily dumbed down, and the lack of tracks gets boring fast, overshadowing the game’s positive additions like Drivatars and the still-stellar racing mechanics. If you’re in it for the social features, the multiplayer, and just plain driving, then this is still a solid pickup, but if the new grind of Career mode isn’t what you’re expecting, then you should steer clear."

Haha.... so far the PS4 lineup got its ass kicked and Ryse still to come. I think Ryse will be a very polarizing game just based on the previews so far.

Yeah how great. The Pride of the PS4 is a side scrolling PSN title and the Pride of the Xbox One is a racing simulator. Thankfully I have a huge backlog of games so I don't feel very compelled to buy either one right now...

@R3FURBISHED: As the Eurogamer review noted, it can be disappointing that the game doesn't have the cars or tracks Forza 4 had. The driving physics and sound look to be to notch though.

Shit game getting AAA by a youngster ? Gamespot paid off for sure. Still getting a PS4 over the Xbone. I buy my consoles for the long run.

Quality > Quantity. Does anyone actually care about the 40 different PS2 quality Nissan Skylines that Gran Turismo 6 has? No, because it's completely unnecessary and they're only in there because they know fans will complain if they take them out.

The best thing is Cows cannot spin this in any way anymore. And there are still some reviews yet to come, Zoo Tycoon, Killer Instinct, Ryse, etc.

So, lets see!

The most important thing in a review is gameplay department and in Forza 5 we a have a dozen lack of features:

Less tracks

Less cars

Horrible AI (proven by a lot of reviewers)

No rain feature (affects gameplay)

No day-night cycle

Maybe there are more maybe not, but this type of racing game with these minuses wouldn't have score more than a 8 on current gen console (look at the disaster of GT5), let alone on next gen consoles, in which you are waiting more and more features than those mentioned above from a racing sim game.

So why 9/10??! Because it's Forza! So what?!

Because of the beautiful gfx??!! Killzone has great gfx but this didn't affect the fair review of it.

You will bash me now and will say that the reviewer had this opinion for the game. I know, but his opinion has to count and to be fair in comparison to mine.

And why the %ell the review has come in the same time as IGN's?! Why are they not reviewing Ryse?! (a 5 hour game)

I've been saying it for a long time in these forums: Turn 10 took the route of quality to a ridiculous level. Whether that be car quality- and not just graphically but extra time spent with tire and suspension physics, to laser scanning all of the tracks.

Everything included in Forza 5 is only included because its quality met the requirements Turn 10 set for Forza 5.

@Bruin1986: no because cows are now counting arcade games when they weren't last gen.

If i deemed it to be too much for everyone, i would not have posted it, i am an adult after all, some people are overly sensitive, welcome to the real world.

In fairness forza is a great series that and halo are system sellers and will be why I'll eventually pick up an x1
