I'm impressed by the GPU, but everything else is kinda meh. I'm just glad the silly leaks and speculation can finally end.
Same here. More powerful than a GTX1080ti or RTX2070. Impressive for a console.
This is truly starting to feel like 'next gen'

Yep.
At least until the PC version of the GPU is out later this year.
However, the real next-gen thing in this console is the super fast storage. That alone will make gaming on PC seem very far behind unless you already have an NVME drive.

I have a few different types of SSDs in my PC and can't really notice the difference in loading times between the different types.
Everything less than a minute of loading is heaven.
And the biggest difference is when you move from HDD to SSD.
But yeah, less loading times for everyone! Great evolution indeed :)

I wanted developers to focus on loading since my first load free 3D game experience with Jak and Daxter. I blame developers for not prioritizing loading and gamers giving them the pass.
@Willy105: I have 2 and even PCs dont fully utilize the speeds of NVME drives for gaming. Consoles are leading innovation in this area since devs will now actually write their game engines around NVME speeds.
Currently, I've only seen 1 game that loads at over 375MB/s sustained that's FF15, and dev's specifically recommended an ssd with that game. Other games load small chunks and processes the AI and scripts during load times.
Its great that MS is bringing it over to PC
@goldenelementxl: negative. I already said it (The fan) pulls air in and blows out the top.
It’s still not the cooling unit bud. there for, NO, THE FAN DOES NOT COOL THE GPU!

Its not the cooling unit, it only moves air allowing the GPU to cool?
@x_hedon: So far, all we know as of now is Halo: Infinite & Hellblade 2 are next-gen games for Xbox Series X. But their is Gears 5 listed for Xbox Series X but I don't know if this will be the first Remastered game for it.
Edit: PS5 has Godfall as the only next-gen game announce so far.

Are you aware of what a fan does? It's literally designed to move air in order to cool an area. Thus, it's absolutely a unit that cools.
@BlackShirt20: So the heat sink is the only part you consider “the cooling unit” in that box? The fan responsible for ALL of the airflow is not?
I think it has been decided. Lems are the dumbest faction in System Wars.
@goldenelementxl: Jesus you people are obsessed with semantics. Technically the fan on it's own could cool. As it is, the fan draws hot air away from the components. It doesn't blow colder air, it sucks hot air.
It's part of a cooling system including vents and a heatsink.
@sealionact: So if the fan blew on the components, you would call it something different?
I’m not obsessed with semantics, I just enjoy watching bullshitters try to keep their bullshit together. Y’all aren’t doing too well
WTF. Are people in here seriously arguing the fan isn't part of the cooling system?
As someone who had a passively cooled GPU once I can assure you - the XSX needs that fan if you dont want it to overheat, especially in that super tight space. You go ahead and unplug your fan to prove a point when you get yours why don't you 😜

It's gotta be trolling at this point. No way they can be serious.
@DragonfireXZ95:
It's basic physics.
That only applies if you have two fans, one drawing in air and one pushing air out. The fan keeps the hot air out of the case, while the vapor chamber constantly recycles the vapor inside of the chamber.
Ron definitely knows how to take a simple concept and conflate the hell out of it for no reason. This is a better example.
Your example doesn't describe the IR energy transfer process.

Its not the cooling unit, it only moves air allowing the GPU to cool?
Technically,
1. Lower energy state air molecules are the energy carrier medium i.e. lower energy state air molecules absorb IR energy from vapor cooler's IR radiating metal surfaces. The fan is used to replace high energy state air molecules with lower energy state air molecules. This is an open-air low-high energy transition process.
2. Vapor cooling works by close-loop low-high energy transition phase cycle.
The fan's main purpose to replace (move) higher energy state air molecules with lower energy state air molecules.
In terms of physics 101, the fan doesn't NOT directly cool the GPU.
Anyway, it's MS problem to cool their box sufficiently. It would be MS's own fault for another RRoD.
@ronvalencia: That’s cool and all, except I don’t think we’re being handcuffed by the number of Zen 2 cores. There are 12 and 16 core, 24/36 thread consumer chips available as of last summer. Losing 3-5 of those cores for texture decompression and I/O work still puts them ahead of whats available on the 8 core console CPU.
It’s a neat feature though. Next gen should benefit greatly
Texture decompression workload can be done on the GpGPU i.e. PCI-E 16X version 3.0 16 GB/s mode + proper PCI-E 4.0 M2 path exceeds XSX's 4GB/s compressed storage IO anyway.
PCI-E version 4.0 16X 32 GB/s mode + proper PCI-E 4.0 M2 path exceeds XSX's 4GB/s compressed storage IO path.
For example, WinZIP supports GpGPU acceleration.

XSX is using a workaround to maximize lower BOM cost NVMe storage solution.
I plan to purchase PCI-E 4.0 based motherboard later in the year with a preference for Zen 3 16 cores.
Zen 2 still has some latency issues between two quad cores clusters and hopefully, Zen 3's native 8 cores cluster fixes this issue. AMD workaround for Zen 2 was the large L3 cache aka "game cache".
@goldenelementxl:
I think your losing your time,this people don't know anything about how cooling works,they actually believe that a cooling fan is something that most blow cold air into a chip creating even condensation instead of dicipating heat.
Let's ignore that if the fan wasn't require it simple would not be there period.
@ronvalencia: Sure sounds like cooling to me. You probably failed physics btw.
Bull5hit with "You probably failed physics btw."
I wonder how much this thing will cost and how much those external storage units also.
I get that they cherry picked the game and to showcase as usual, but its still impressive 4K/60 with G5 is no easy feat.
Look forward to seeing what the PS5 has tomorrow... And what Nvidia have to answer to RDNA2.0 with.
Without the CPU bottleneck 60FPS will be easy that said... Ray Tracing, minecraft ran at 1080/30 but that is path tracing, I'm going to guess 1440/30 or 4K/30 depending on just how much they the graphics in future.
I mean, technically fans disapate heat, they don't create cold. This is some hair splitting bs though.
Well shoot neither do heatsinks. They also dissipate heat.
This isn't the XSX thread anymore, this thread is now about fans and fan talk only.
Lems derail their own console's threads. They truly don't care.
@ronvalencia:
Just stop man WTF really not really WTF?
Your suppose to know about this,a fan doesn't have to freaking deliver cold air to a CPU or GPU in order to be consider a coming fan,fact is it doesn't matter what vapor chamber the Xbox series X has there is no fu***** way that it would last even 1 damn hour without a fan.
The whole design is to dissipate heat by circulating air,extracting the hot air while circulating colder air from outside.
So yeah that fan COOLS THE DAMN XBOX AN IS IN DEED A COOLING FAN.
Jesus some of you argue some shit here that make me wonder if you really know what a damn PC is.
My post was made in the context of XSX's cooling solution. Damn yourself.
I'm impressed by the GPU, but everything else is kinda meh. I'm just glad the silly leaks and speculation can finally end.

Well the 5700XT is pretty much a 2070 and 1080 Ti in performance.
This thing looks like it will be around 2080 to 2080S performance.
Console gamer's are either going to get a bargain of the century or are about to be hit with a $599 price tag.
@ronvalencia:
Man there is no context in which your post could be right period,without that fan the series X would over heat rather fast,so yeah it is a cooling fan.
You fool, you didn't read my post.
Again, "The fan's main purpose to replace (move) higher energy state air molecules with lower energy state air molecules"
@ronvalencia: I doubt it's BS. Furthermore, it's cooling. This is a fact.
It's bull5hit. A fan in near-vacuum of space will not cool IR emitting metal surface.

There's a reason for why AMD partnered with MS on higher DXR Tier 1.1 efficiency, Hint: AMD RDNA 2 couldn't brute it way in NVIDIA's less efficient DXR Tier 1.0.
DXR Tier 1.1's higher efficiency also benefits NVIDIA Turing RTX hardware.

Of course.
This is still a current generation title being benchmarked with features and optimisation not available on current version of the game so its benchmark is a useless point of reference, its more of a showcase.
I am more curious to see Ray Traced game performance, but I get the choice of game since its a Xbox and its known for Gears and 2x the framerate plus higher graphics is easier to quantify for lower iq gamers.
If they showe cased Metro at 1440/60 with Ray Tracing I would be impressed... But I doubt it can do that without dropping settings or frames.
