This thing is mid range when ampere lands, surprised this thread has reached seven pages.
Sammy's 10nm based "8nm" process node (Samsung's 10nm+++++++++) is relatevely a low bar for AMD.
Blame mobile phone SOC vendors.

@ronvalencia: in other words you agree that the purpose of the fan is to help cool the device
He has to. Because in a post a while ago he said "the old 7970 Ghz Edition/8970-OEM reference card only has a single cooling fan"
He used to call them that until recently. He seems to just want to be combative. To the point where he called his own comments fake news lol.
@tormentos: Too late, you admitted the price was what held sales back already...not even 50 exclusives would had helped. If it was cheaper then guess what? It isn't overpriced.
You can go back to arguing about fans now.

are you really that upset about the term "cooling fan"?

The old 7970 Ghz Edition/8970-OEM reference card only has a single cooling fan... This "AMD reference card" has two cooling fans....

7970 Ghz Edition can rival NVIDIA's Titan in GpGPU but not with rasterization i.e. AMD needs to increase it's TMU and ROP count.

1. It's still fake news since I didn't type that statement in this topic.
2. You didn't use academic referencing standards since you didn't properly link to the original page.
3. You misused my statements to serve your bullshit.

Alright this is so far derailed it's no longer funny.
F*cking fans. Their function is to help cool the hardware. It's not up for debate - anyone who builds PCs buys fans for that purpose, and yes - it's based on science. Go ahead and unplug your fans, I don't care.
But this is just a prolonged game of semantics to argue for the sake of arguing - and all it's done is derailed the topic.
