Yes, although not every gamer out there is an idiot and insulting them isn't a good way to reach that goal. Good advertising and even a demo can help.

EDIT: I just checked and apparently OFP: Dragon Rising sold over 800k copies on the 360 and trust me, the game can be as tactical as any old school shooter (Specially on hardcore mode).

With how console, and console centric games are in the last few years, can anyone really argue that? There are exceptions of course, but noone can argue the dumbing down of popular franchises, and the need for S0M3TH1NG AWS0M3!!!!111 to happen every time you press a button.

Personally these sort of games aren't usually my favourites, but I've had a good time with an early Rainbow Six game (can't remeber which one, just remeber that it had a museum level :P), but I admire Chris for trying to do this, and I think if it's done right, it WILL sell, because there IS a hardcore audience on PC. I'm not saying there isn't one on consoles, it's just that the market is definitely bigger on PC.

This is the exactly what the PUBLISHER was talking about. Dude the Publisher said this not the guy trying to get the kickstarter going. He was quoting what he was told during his pitch.

Did OP forget that the original Rainbow Six and Rouge Squad were on the PS1? Oh yeah, Ghost Recon (the original) was on the PS2 and Xbox and Gamecube.

Ever think that maybe game development costs got high the little niche communites couldn't support the developers anymore? The guy has to take donations just to convince a publishers, and he's going to squeak by. That's how tiny the audience is in relation to the rest of gaming.

Sure, maybe now that PC gaming has more than quardupled in size there is enough people to make a tactical shooter, but not a few years ago.

I laugh when publishers say stuff like that. If I'm smart enough to work on an engineering degree (or any other degree for that matter), I think I can handle playing some stupid PC game that will probably end up sucking. Its more a matter of the game not being fun to most people and that frankly isn't my or anyone elses problem.
