No it's simply the game for Casual gamers.

F1ame_Shie1d

I hate when I see people say this. There is plenty of skill to call of duty. You can't just hop onto MW2 and start dropping nukes. Or get into Black ops and get dogs all the time.

It's more of a lone wolf gae and because of that the maps need to be small.

Battle field takes no more or less skill then COD but it attempts to force team work to win. Problem with BF is the same problem with COD. Everyone camps because they're more worried about their KDR then actually winning. Which means COD is the better game anyways since COD puts a heavy focus on KDR while BF put a heavy focus on W/L. At least with COD I can be good enough to make a positive impact on the outcome of the match. In BF you have no hope if you don't have team mates that are in the same mindset as you.

I was lead to believe that W/L > KDR in battlefield :|

it's very depressing when a person thinks of a videogame series as a way of life. i mean i love zelda and i'm going to buy all of them, but i do that because i think the games are good, not because it's a lifestyIe.

Call of Duty 2 actually required skill to play. Quake 3 now there's a real FPS.

*plays CoD's SP for 3 hours*

*competes it*

*plays MP for 5 minutes*

*Never touches again*

That is my reaction to MW2, one of the biggest pieces of trash to go into my 360 disc drive.

AND I PLAYED TWO WORLDS.

Also LOL at this topic.

That's why it sells close to 30 million copies with each instalment, whereas BF barely sells over 2 million outside the PC platform, I guess.

It's fine if you don't like CoD (nobody here does), but you can't deny it's the symbol of gaming for many gamers today.

Laughable. Black Ops sold what, 24 mil? That's not close to 30, and neither are the others since Blops has the highest amount. Bad Company 2, sold over 9 million on all three platforms. Not as much as CoD, but it doesn't have the casual crowd and EA didn't have to pay off reviewers to score the game high, but Activision did with the free vacations.

Symbol for casuals maybe, who are their main audience.

CoD sells the most because its the most casual easy to play FPS around.

A 5 can play it and do well. Somebody who hasnt played a game before can play it and do well.

It's the starting block for new gamers (and 8-15 year olds) and that is who its marketed to, young teens.

No, it doesn't sell because it's easy. That's laughable. A lot of games are easy to get into, yet never see sales even close to CoD.

CoD sells because of one thing, and one thing only: it's fun to play.

That is the theme of any CoD game. IW doesn't give a crap about graphics. As long as they make a game that many people will enjoy (a keyword, it does not exist in the BF franchise), they're happy.

Battlefield 3, for your information, is aimed at the casual crowd, as well.

Considering how bad CoD has become after 4, it makes distinguishing a gaming newbie from a gaming veteran easy.

We are talking about CoD not BF.

And yes not all films are fun to watch for you, but people out there will like the ones you don't like. You are talking like CoD is the only fun game, which its not.

Me and a friend of mine were having a discussion about Gears 3 yesterday.

Me: How are things going in Gears 3, owning some noobs lately?

He: Yeah, because I have already said it will be my last game this year, I am trying to get pro at it, it has my full focus atm.

Me: What, so you are not going to buy MW3?!

He: Well, of course, but MW3 doesn't count, because it's not a game, but rather a way of life. You always buy CoD.

Do you agree? I thought about what he had said, and came to the conclusion that it may very well be the case in these days.

SHATT3R3D-GLASS

I'd say something, but I'd get modded, lol.

yeah, I don't know how someone can sit there with a straight face and say gaming is a way of life. gaming is a hobby, a recreational activity, a stress reliever if you will ... BUT if its an important aspect in your life then you better be getting paid to play.

Its an important aspect in my life. All of my hobbies are like reading, video games, football. Why do gamers make it seem like we're too cool for games haha. It's apart of my life man. I play them, I research them, think about them when I'm not playing them, and I talk to other people over the internet and school about games... No shame in my game! It is what it is!

Exactly. i cannot see either how people can say playing games as anything more than what it is which is sitting on your bum and playing games. If you are not in the gaming scene like developer, musician, designer or whatever then your life isnt to do with games and its not your way of life. I dont know about stress reliever but i get more stressed from gaming than anything else lol.

We only need 1 word answer no need to make out a hobby to be more than a hobby when it isnt. You can have a strong interest in something but that doesnt change the fact in the end its still a Hobby.

I have a hobby in Football, not the american rugby variation but actual Football. I read alot of news and watch the highlights. This to me is nothing more than a hobby.

yeah, I don't know how someone can sit there with a straight face and say gaming is a way of life. gaming is a hobby, a recreational activity, a stress reliever if you will ...

Now this is the truth. I don't think it's a way of life(ah screw it. Just consider it a way of life. >.>) but it can be a very important aspect of a person life. Of course people won't admit it.

[QUOTE="The-Magus-D"]

[QUOTE="Dibdibdobdobo"] So....... Is it a Hobby or a way of life? Dibdibdobdobo

Its a hobby that's an important aspect of my life. A lifestyIe would be different.

We only need 1 word answer no need to make out a hobby to be more than a hobby when it isnt. You can have a strong interest in something but that doesnt change the fact in the end its still a Hobby.

And you created the rules on how we all must perceive things? Are you the Magistrate of Proper Expressions shouting on top of a tower, "It must be one way, or no way at all!"?

I called it a hobby for crying out loud lol. I added the extra bit to emphasize that it is important in my life. What matters to you is more usually more meaningful than how the world looks at it.

I'm not down for just being like everyone else. Call of Duty is awesome and I bet many people would disagree. I'm down with what's important to me >=].

Well their was 2 answers of 1 being "hobby" and the other answer being "way of life". No need to emphasize or anything as you are on a message board talking about games, I can tell already that you have a great interest in games as its a Hobby of yours.
