@n64dd: First it's too early to say the protests did anything in regard to ratings. I said the one game had an increase. Nonetheless live games have been in decline since 2015. However that is attributed to people becoming more casual about the live viewing. They aren't stopping altogether. In fact the day of tweets/protests CBS doubleheader saw a 4% increase over the last year.https://www.forbes.com/sites/maddieberg/2017/09/25/as-trump-attacks-nfl-weekend-ratings-are-mixed/#f3fa2c0ce163

@LJS9502_basic: ratings are down in the NFL have been in a decline for a while since before the protests. The Sunday night game last night had poor ratings, and year to year viewship has decreased. I blame it more on poor product and unable to tell if the cord cutters are watching anymore.

But we will see as the season progresses what effect this will have on the NFL.

The flag means different things to different people. I don't like people kneeling during the anthem, but if they feel that is a means of progress to address problems, then they're free to pursue that.

In highschool they say the pledge, but some kids refuse. Yeah they are usually being attention whore, but a patriotic attention whore will complain about him doing it. But what can you do? Expel a kid for not doing the pledge

The pledge was a PR stunt that was used to sell flags to public schools. It's nonsense. Anyone who stands for it is either ignorant of its origins or a dope.

In a series of speeches and editorials that were equal parts marketing, political theory and racism, he (Francis Bellamy, creator of the pledge) argued that Gilded Age capitalism, along with “every alien immigrant of inferior race,” eroded traditional values, and that pledging allegiance would ensure “that the distinctive principles of true Americanism will not perish as long as free, public education endures.”
