Hey this is pretty cool. I just started like yesterday. I've completed 2 WU's so far. It takes like 1:36 each frame and both WU's were like 500 frames i believe on the Amber Core. I'm letting it run while I work. And I usually have 14 hr shifts so thats a lot of work that can be done. I'm running it on dual core and I just read an article to run two WU's simultaneously, one on each core. This article was in one of Maximum PC's recent magazines.
quick update: the third one is a 5000 frame core and its taking like 24s/frames. I can't believe I just jumped from dead last in GS's folding team to 188th. I'll see where I'm at soon.
Im closing on the top 20 i think but i know ill be passed quick if i dont eventually upgrade to a quad core or atleast a dual core next time i build.Kurushio
Yeah, I know some therapists in case you have problems... :PDirkVDV01I NEED NO THERAPIST *punches hole in wall* ... dammit.
[QUOTE="megagoten"]well, i joined. more questions, my cpu maxes at 50% i'm guessing that's due to my HT cpu? anyway i can maximise it? well, i heard that it's now possible to use both cpu and gpu together and get some significan increased performance, only it says that ati's driver's neededDirkVDV01Yes, it's because of HT that you see 50% CPU usage. It's 100%, you can be certain of this, so maximising it won't have much of an effect. Don't use 2 clients, since the HT is just a virtual CPU and will be very slow... The client has only been written and released for ATI 19** family GPU's. No use in trying it on your Nvidia card or with different drivers, it won't work. ah great. thanks guys. ok, more questions (i did go through their faq) maybe it's a placebo effect, but i'm convinced the first frame is slower... first one took me some 20 minutes ytd, and then i did a few more at 7minutes today, it's taking me some 20 minutes for the first frame too. *yes, you can laugh at my computer, but, seeing as to how there are 8 PENTIUMS still folding...*
edit: screensaver won't work?
[QUOTE="Kurushio"]How many people here actually have an x19x card and are using it for folding?DirkVDV01Not me. i'm preparing a rant on it, since it's something isn't very clear to me...
Whats not clear? The x19 series is very good at making calculations and they have figured out how to make the shaders work for them. I just wish that maybe nvidia would help out but i guess it will have to wait until perhaps my next upgrade when maybe i can get a quad core and which ever video card is best that i can afford at the time.
If anyone would like to remake this thread with charts and graphs and such that actually work... well, that would be nice of them. Konrad
