It's great that more people are joining but it would also be great if more of the people would come back. Of the 10 people that are ahead of me (im top 31) only 2 are active. Im running a P4 3.0ghz but im thinking about getting an AMD 3500 once i build. Just have that fear that im losing 1K for a comp but it will be ever so nice. Just make sure though you set it to run on start up so that way if you shut it off for a game or something if you restart your comp it will come back.KurushioMaybe we should PM the people who stopped folding? I know some of them it would be hard since they don't use their GameSpot name, but it would be worth a shot. The front page also needs updating badly. I've been working on it but still need more time to finish.
I just downloaded the folding client at home, and started folding under the gamespot team. I figure my computer isn't doing anything while I'm not home anyway...
But I was wondering exactly how much the gamespot team has been doing. I also think a Folding union would be a great idea, sign me up!

Woot! Just broke into the top 100!
But I don't quite get how they score this. I seem to have a very high score per WU ratio.
And the Amber core is just the name of the program base that your machine is using. Amber is apparently the newest version of the program, and runs a little quicker than the older versions.
The amber core is a new core designed specifically for some protein folding projects and to use some processor in-built optimisations. Other cores are available which use different methods, are designed for different projects and use different or no optimisations. For example: Tinker cores don't use any optimisations, while Gromacs core do heavy stuff and use optimisations A LOT. I run FAH for more then 3 years with my own team (not GS), but I'm thinking of quiting since I intend to do other stuff and won't find the time to run them any more. I'm still doubting to do that, unless some people would contribute to my team, but I'll leave it like it is I guess. Still hesitating to leave the project entirely...DirkVDV01
Thanks for the more detailed answer. If you couldn't tell, I was kinda guessing based on the faqs at the folding home page. :P
I noticed I had been running a bunch of smaller work units (500 frames) and that they were using the amber core. I checked earlier and it was running a big one (20000 frames) and this was using the gromacs core, which was working enough that I could notice my hard drive light blinking.
